(sorry for the short chapter im at a friends)
I investigated the book, flipping through every page examining it intensively. I stood up to hold the pages up to the light. Standing up quickly I felt something rattle inside the book. I shook it feeling it again. Where was it coming from?
The others stared at me confused. I mean I don't blame them I was aggressively shaking a book I had just found in the streets about a women dealing with this awful life. My life had become so weird so quickly.
"Can I see the knife please" I held my hand out as he put into my palm. Taking it I made a small incision trying not to mess up the cover that much. I tilted the book sideways and shook it. A key feel to the floor.
"How did you know that would be there?" Dominic asked staring down at it.
I picked up the key and walked out of the room. I was too focused and I had to find the room what if the government found us.
I walked through the house trying each door. Nope. Didn't fit. Ugh every door I tried failed. I went over to the basement. It unlocked. The others had just came in as I walked down the stairs.
The basement only had one room. It was mostly made of steel, and was stacked with water and food. And there were pages upon pages of writing. There was a small cot in the corner with a bag laying next to it.
I walked over and sat down by the bag and opened looking through it. My friends all confused but I kept ignoring them. I didn't mean it in a rude way I just didn't want to miss any information.
It only took a minute before they realized and sat down besides me. There were two knifes, a gun, a picture of a family, notes, and lipstick.
I finally spoke "I knew she couldn't have just left us that so I looked in the book. And as I expected there was something. A key. All I had to do was find the door it fit into."
Dominic and others were astonished. I just followed my intellect. Pulling out some of the notes from her bag. I handed them all a few. I haven't read them all yet but Ive read some.
Asher looked around the room continuing to search. I joined him as he looked around. He pulled a drawing off the wall and examined it.
"Yk what this looks like?" He asked me handing me the artwork.
"I don't know it kinda looks familiar though, why do you know?"
"It looks like a girl I've seen in The Poor City, she goes around in a hooded rope and tells stories about some awful space. Do you think...?"
Before he could even finish his sentence I spoke, "Oh my god it has to be her!" I ran to the bag and grabbed one of the notes, running back.
"This one didn't make since but now It does, it says if you follow my path my silhouette outlining the way you'll find a tunnel there you'll be safe." I went back over and started carefully tearing down the notes behind it a small door.
Asher quickly opened a door to lead into the tunnel. We grabbed the others and the bag stuffing some of the stuff including the book in there before leaving. We shut the door behind us before leaving.
