"No because we look so cute." Soph giggled, already a little tipsy.
"Just don't post these Soph. Just the ones we agreed on." She nodded. I was actually enjoying this time with her. The boys had just finished on stage and were getting ready so we could all go out.
"You're really pretty Lil. I don't understand why you worry about the online hate so much. They're honestly not even worth it."
"I know, I just don't want to risk it. I'd probably be better with it now than I used to be. But If I'm not I can't go back you know."
"I guess." The door opened and the boys stood there.
"Woah. Lil." I chuckled spinning in a circle for them. Soph ran over to Robin, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Doesn't she look good Robbie?" He stared at me as Luke held my hand in the air, spinning me around until I nearly fell, Bailey grabbing me and laughing.
"I- um- sure." He looked down at Soph. "So do you." She giggled, leaning up and planting a kiss on his cheek.
"So are we classing this as your birthday night out then Lil?" Aiden smirked.
"Oh god."
"I have the badge!" Luke giggled pulling it out of his pocket. We'd had this badge for years. Each of us wearing it for any of our birthday celebrations. It was starting to get old and tatty like us but none of us cared.
"Why did you even bring that? You didn't know I was coming until it was too late."
"We stopped by the house when you were passed out on Bailey." Luke carefully clipped it onto the dress. "Sorry Soph. I hope you can't see the holes when the badge is off."
"Oh it's fine, it's just a dress, I can get another." She flicked her hair. "When is your birthday Lil?"
"Monday." Robin said quickly, still staring at me. I don't know what it was about his stare but it was causing my heart to skip a few beats and my body temperature was raising quickly. God I was glad Will had promised to pick me up. He was working tonight, having to take everything down and pack it up ready to move on tomorrow. He said they usually finished at about 1am so he may catch us for a few drinks, if not he was spending the night with me. He'd made it clear that if I was wasted, no matter how much I pushed, nothing would happen and if he had to leave and sit outside my hotel room door for the entire night to make sure it didn't he would.
"We- um should go right?" I smiled, trying to refocus my head. This crush was still in my head. I was still picturing him holding me every night though now, with all the anger mixing into it, it wasn't anywhere near as intense as it had been before.
"Soph, before we do, can you take a photo of us all. Its our little tradition." Bailey smiled. "We took a photo when we were 12 on her birthday of us kissing he cheek all at the same time and now our parents look forward to the new one every year."
"It's not my birthday yet." I laughed.
"So they get 2 this year." Luke shrugged.
"Are you using this as an excuse to kiss me again Luke?" He smirked. "I'll take that as a yes."
"Wait you 2 kissed?" Soph giggled as Aiden pulled Robin off her and dragging him to the side he was always at for this. They all had their designated spaces, same photo every time. I loved this as much as out parents did. You could really see the changes in us growing up year on year. When you're in the moment you don't see it but looking back. We've all changed so much.
"Oh yeah." Aiden nodded. "They had a whole thing."
"Oh my god it was one kiss during spin the bottle when we were 17." I laughed. "I kissed you longer than I did him Aiden."
"Best 7 minutes of my life." I rolled my eyes. "I'm kidding. You guys remember Kelsie?"
"Oh my god." I laughed.
"You came out of that room a changed man." Bailey laughed from behind me.
"You look good tonight." Robin whispered in my ear as the other boys spoke about Aiden's short lived romance with the most popular girl in school. I looked up at him, furrowing my brow slightly. What the fuck is up with him tonight?
"Thanks. It's your girlfriends dress." I turned my head back.
"Okay guys are we ready. I really need another drink." Sophia was smiling from a few feet away. The boys quickly placed their lips on my face, one on each cheek, one on either side of my forehead and I smiled like I always did for this photo.
Robin's lips felt different right now, a little harder than usual. I couldn't place my finger on it but it was starting to feel like he knew about my crush and how Will was helping me get over it but he didn't want me to. Like he wanted me to sit and wait around. It was making me so confused.
"Got it!" They all lifted up and stepped back, moving to Bailey's phone to check it out against last years. All except Robin, who's hand stayed on my hip. I looked up at him, swallowing as I felt his fingers gently trace on my hip, the smallest on his lips. I cleared my throat, stepping away from him and over to the group.
"Oh my god look at Aiden's little moustache." Soph giggled. They must be showing her all the photos.
"16 was not a good year." I chuckled, trying to act as unphased as possible. In reality just that small movement from him had caused the crush to come back instantaneously. To the point I was struggling to breathe. Fighting back tears.
"You were a brunette!" She took the phone and zoomed in. "It does not suit you like I thought it would." I chuckled, leaning against Bailey for support.
"It did not." She smiled at me. "They say blonds have more fun though right." I shrugged and she laughed, walking back to where Robin was still stood.
"What do you think Robbie? Should I go blonde?" He stared at me.
What is going on? It's like the air around us had changed completely and I was being smothered. This was fucking with my head more than getting over him had been.
