Song: checkmate
Written by: Conan gray

Y/N was fast asleep when his phone rang, jolting him awake. He fumbled for his phone, squinting at the bright screen in the darkness.

"Hello?" he mumbled groggily.

"Hey, Y/N," came Peter's slurred voice on the other end of the line. "You up?"

Y/N sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Peter, it's two in the morning. What do you want?"

Peter chuckled drunkenly. "I just wanted to tell you some truths, man. Some real deep truths."

Y/N rolled his eyes. He knew that when Peter got drunk, he tended to get a bit ridiculous.

"Okay, Peter," Y/N said, trying to keep his tone patient. "What truths do you want to tell me?"

Peter's voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "You know Gamora, right?" he asked.

Y/N frowned. "Yeah, of course I know Gamora. What about her?"

"I've been flirting with her," Peter said, his voice rising with excitement. "And you know what she said? She said she was interested in me!"

Y/N felt his stomach drop. He had suspected that Peter had been flirting with Gamora, but he had hoped it was just his imagination. The thought of Peter with someone else made him feel sick.

"Peter, what are you trying to say?" Y/N asked, his voice strained.

"I'm just saying, man," Peter said, his words slurring together. "I'm sly. I'm smooth. And I'm gonna get her."

Y/N felt anger rising within him. Peter had been building him up, telling him that he was the only one for him. And now he found out that it was all a lie.

"Peter, you're drunk," Y/N said, his voice cold. "And you're not making any sense. I think you should go to bed and we can talk about this when you're sober."

Peter laughed. "Yeah, okay, man," he said. "But just remember, I'm the man. And no one can resist me."

Y/N hung up the phone, feeling hurt and angry. He couldn't believe that Peter had been lying to him all along. He knew that he had to confront Peter about this, to make him understand the pain he had caused.

The next day, Y/N waited for Peter outside his apartment, his jaw clenched with anger. When Peter finally emerged, looking a bit worse for wear, Y/N stepped forward.

"We need to talk," he said, his voice low and dangerous.

Peter looked surprised, his eyes widening. "What's going on, man?" he asked.

"You lied to me," Y/N said, his voice rising. "You told me that I was the only one for you, but all along you were flirting with Gamora."

Peter's expression changed, his face paling. "Y/N, wait," he said, holding up his hands. "It's not what you think."

"Don't even try to deny it," Y/N said, his fists clenching. "I heard everything you said last night. You think you're so slick, so sly. But you're just a liar and a cheat."

Peter looked ashamed, his eyes downcast. "I'm sorry, man," he said. "I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just that...I don't know. I guess I got caught up in the moment."

Y/N felt a wave of sadness wash over him. He had trusted Peter, had believed that he was different from all the others. But now he realized that he had been wrong.

"I can't be with someone who lies to me," Y/N said, before punching peter in the face leaving him by his door with a bloodied nose going back to his  apartment happy with what he did
