Day 9: Tuesday
---
"This is kind of ridiculous.", Derek chuckled. April, Lexie, and Arizona had insisted on having the girls all dress up in the same room. The Shepherd knocked on the door. "Hey, you said you'd be done by 5:45pm. I'd like to pick up my girlfriend for the dance."
"Here she is.", Callie escorted her out of the room, making sure nobody got to peek. "Meredith has been ready for like twenty minutes, but we needed her help.", she laughed as she watched the couple walk downstairs together. "Maggie, are you done? Andrew is next.", she announced.
"Yes, I am here.", the brunette giggled and shyly walked over to her crush. They hadn't officially gotten together yet. "She's not ready yet.", she addressed Owen once all of them heard Amelia and Lexie argue about what dress her best friend was going to wear. "Maybe you should help her choose."
"Actually, that's not a bad idea.", Calliope realized. "Everyone, come out now. Amelia, Owen will help you pick an outfit.", she decided. As soon as all their friends were gone, the redhead knocked on the door.
"Honey, can I come in please?", Owen softly asked, waiting for his girlfriend to open the door. Her hair seemed to be the only thing ready about her since she was standing in front of him, wearing nothing but her underwear. "The girls said you could use a little help.", he shared, trying hard not to stare at her naked body parts.
"This is shit. I've brought nothing that looks good enough for a dance, because I didn't know we were going to have one. And you, you are wearing a suit. So, I am stuck. I have no idea what I am supposed to put on.", Amelia complained upset.
"Amelia, you could wear a sweater and leggings and I would still want you to be my date. This is not about the outfit. It's about you and me spending time together.", her boyfriend explained. "I wanna have a great evening with you. And part of that is you feeling comfortable with whatever you're wearing. Plus, I told the others not to vote for us to become Prom Queen and King because I know you don't want all the attention."
"You did?", the brunette questioned surprised. "But you wanted to have a chance of becoming Prom Queen and King. You really did that for me?", she wondered and hugged him. "Thank you. I really don't need all the attention. And you are right. This evening is for us to have fun as a couple. So, this blue dress or the black one? Both match your outfit."
"They are stunning. But if you really want my opinion, I'm gonna say you should be naked.", Owen teased her, not at all lying. He wiggled his eyebrows for effect and dorkily grinned at her.
"Shut up!", his girlfriend giggled and playfully hit his chest. "That view is only reserved for you and for after the dance tonight.", she promised. "It's gonna be red, actually.", she finally chose a dress.
"Perfect.", the redhead proudly smiled at her. He knew she didn't quite notice it herself, but he had let her choose her outfit by herself without interfering at all. He really just wanted Amelia to be as comfortable as she could be. "So, who will you vote for tonight? I think I'll pick April and Jackson."
"Probably Lexie and Mark.", Amelia answered. "Okay, let's take a mirror selfie and then we can go downstairs.", she suggested, causing them to do just that. They were holding hands as they walked down the stairs and joined their friends.
"You look beautiful.", her big brother complimented his sister, very aware of how hard it had been for her to get ready for this. She lived a casual lifestyle, and this clearly was the opposite. "Here we go.", Derek chuckled when Arizona stood up and hit her glass with a knife to gain everyone's attention.
"So, this is it. Welcome to our very own vacation dance. It's fancier than all the other stuff we did and are going to do, but I am pretty sure this will be a wonderful evening as well. Took some planning and preparing, but we all did great. Let's have lots of fun, great food, skillful dances, and lots of love.", the blonde held her speech. "Callie, do you wanna come to the photobooth with me?", she wanted to know from her girlfriend, pulling her away from their table already.
"I need food first.", Meredith, who also wasn't the type of girl who loved going to prom, said. "Who else?", she asked the others at their table, causing Derek, Amelia, and Owen to get up too while Maggie and Andrew wanted to start the evening off by having their first dance.
"Can you fill us a plate to share while I get the four of us something to drink?", Amelia questioned her boyfriend, who nodded. He knew the reason she had asked him was that he had several snacks he wanted her to try and this way, he could just pick them out already. "So, do you all want alcohol?", she wondered.
"Wait, let me.", her brother stepped in. "Because yes, we do. But you shouldn't be the one preparing our drinks. Get yourself something you like, Amy.", he softly ordered, smiling at his little sister.
"Oh, I don't want alcohol.", Owen meddled. "Please just make me a non-alcoholic cocktail.", he told the siblings, causing his girlfriend to glance at him in confusion. "I wanna be able to kiss you and I know you won't say no even if I drink. But I don't need alcohol to have fun and I want you to be as safe as possible."
"As much as I hate the fact that my baby sister is dating and in love, you are a good guy, Owen.", Derek pointed out. "I mean, otherwise we wouldn't be friends. But you're treating her right and I like that.", he said, patting his buddy's back for a moment.
"Non-alcoholic Mojito?", the younger Shepherd looked at her boyfriend, who nodded. He could see in her eyes how much she was appreciating his effort and that he was so cautious around her. "Good, add a little more to that plate please, I am hungry and excited to try what you have made.", she beamed.
