Day 4: Thursday

---

"Does anyone wanna come outside with us?", Jo yelled into the living room, trying to be louder than the music. She, Arizona, Jackson, Mark, Tyler, and Jenny were on their way outside to get some fresh air.

"Yeah, it's pretty hot in here.", Amelia said, referring to both, the room temperature because it was stuffy inside, and to the fact that Owen and she had been making out on the couch for half an hour straight. "Wanna come?", she asked him.

"Nah, I'd rather stay here, okay?", the redhead questioned softly, holding her hand and bringing it to his lips to kiss it once she had nodded. "See you in a few minutes.", he added and smiled, watching her blow him a kiss.

"So, Owen's your boyfriend?", Tyler took his chance of starting another conversation with the brunette once the group was walking towards the lake. "Or just your fling?", he tried to find out.

"Oh, they aren't together.", Arizona meddled, having overheard the talk and always ready to share her knowledge. "But madly in love anyway.", she explained. Amelia grabbed Mark's arm and pulled him back to walk with him. "You really want her, huh?", the blonde asked Tyler.

"I mean, she's super hot.", the teenager answered, staring at Amelia's ass since she was walking right in front of them now. "Plus, the way she kissed Owen earlier...there's such a fire inside of her, I'd love to get burned by her."

"Tyler, I'm sorry. I think you don't stand a chance. That fire is reserved for Owen only and if I was you, I wouldn't flirt with her too much. She's into him and only him. Amelia isn't the type of person who likes two guys at the same time.", Arizona pointed out, handing him the cigarette she was smoking.

"But you said they aren't together, there must be some reason for that.", the boy figured once they arrived at the lake. Amelia turned around after noticing the intoxicating smell of the cigarette and stared at it. "You want it?", Tyler offered.

"I kinda do.", his counterpart replied. She knew she shouldn't do it, but she was still addicted to drugs and currently, nobody was keeping her from taking the poison. Tyler handed her the cigarette and waited for her to smoke it.

"Feels good, huh?", the teenager wanted to know after she had inhaled the smoke. Amelia nodded. The others were a few meters away, not noticing what was happening, when suddenly Owen joined the group, finding his crush with Tyler.

The brunette had finished smoking the cigarette a few seconds ago, therefore he didn't immediately realize what was going on. It was 2am and he was quite tired if he was honest, so he had wanted to say good night to her.

"Hey, I am gonna go to bed.", the redhead told Amelia, watching Tyler lose interest in her and leave to talk to the others. "It's late and I need some sleep.", he shared, wrapping his arms around her, and leaning down to peck her lips, when she shied away from him and pulled her head away, still lingering in the hug. "What, did...did something happen? Between you and Tyler?"

"No.", his crush mumbled honestly. She had lost control over the situation; stuck in an environment where drugs were available everywhere. "I just...didn't we kiss enough today?", she asked, feeling stupid as she did.

"Uh...I guess. If you don't want to, it's okay.", Owen agreed, hurt by her words. Now he really felt like she was lying to him and that something had happened with Tyler. "Well, I am gonna go to bed then.", he whispered sadly and let go of her. Amelia watched him walk away.

"OWEN!", she shouted, causing him to stop and unsurely turn around to her. He seemed super upset now. Ashamed, she walked up to him and stopped in front of him, staring at the ground. "I want to give you a good night kiss."

"All of a sudden you do?", her crush questioned confused. "You can't even look me in the eye.", he noticed, waiting for her to raise her head and lock eyes with him. "You don't have to give me a kiss, if you don't feel like it.", he told her.

"No, I want to.", Amelia insisted. She couldn't tell him that she had taken drugs, but if she kissed him, he would realize it himself. "And after that, I want to go to bed with you. Is that alright?", she added. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to ask a question, but only shrugged and nodded after. "Promise me.", she begged.

"Amelia, I am tired...what is going o-", the redhead began, but was interrupted by her lips against his and that's when he noticed it. He smelled that she had been smoking and he tasted it. Now all of it made sense. "Let's go get some sleep.", he said.

Once they had passed everybody and told Maggie that Owen would join Amelia tonight again, the teenager locked the door and sighed. He had promised himself not to blame her right now.

He was disappointed, but he felt like he should have protected her more from the toxic environment that he thought Mark's other friends provided. Suddenly, he heard sniffles, causing him to glance at her.

"It was a moment of weakness.", Amelia tried to find an excuse. "I...", she started sobbing now, feeling Owen's weight on the bed and leaning into him as he wrapped his arms around her. "I was able to decline the alcohol, but..."

"I know.", her crush whispered and comforted her by stroking her arm and kissing her head. "Tomorrow is a new day.", he reassured her. "It's just...I don't quite understand why you took the cigarette from a guy like Tyler."

"I don't know either, Owen.", the brunette cried. "It's an addiction. When nobody is around to help me stay sober, I lose control and he handed me the cigarette...it was easier to take it than to explain why I shouldn't."

"We'll fix this together.", Owen promised. "Now get some sleep.", he suggested, turning off the lights and holding Amelia close to him, occasionally kissing her head, and only surrendering to sleep himself once he knew she had fallen asleep too.
