IX. truth revealed

What a wonderful good morning.
"What are you even saying?!", Baa said storming out of the kitchen, obviously to defend her son.
I was so exhausted, and now a new drama was en route.
"I am saying the truth Baa.", She said sounding desperate.
I noticed the great Vanraj Shah pale.

Was Rittika saying the truth?
Was he really cheating on me and dating her?

After last night's conversation it didn't seem likely though.
But I still had my doubts after the way he and his mother had stopped me from going to America.

"This can never be the truth! My son is absolutely innocent! Stop lying and get out-"
"Leela.", Moti Baa said patiently, her eyes fixed on my husband.
"Vanraj will tell us the truth.", She said.

And I knew here Vanraj was going to lie.
And so he did.

"I-I don't love her.. She is lying. Moti Baa trust me.. she is just a friend..", He said.
I so perfectly knew him sometimes.
And yet he always finds love in people who will never value him enough. This whole America incident was such an eye opener that I had finally stopped worshipping him, and as a normal human being, he seemed pretty messed up.

"Vanraj.. stop lying!"
"I am not lying!"

I held my head.
The kind of nonsense I was dealing with for the last few days.
Plus getting pregnant and dealing with my mood swings.

I could feel an unlikely temper rise now, and I could not handle it for too long if these two didn't shut up.
But they went on with 'you are a liar' and 'you are a bigger liar'.

And then I burst out, "Shut up both of you!"

I swear I saw the most shocked expressions in the world. My family gave a better performance than any of those TV serials could.

"Rittika, with all due respect you might want to leave because my husband is absolutely not interested in getting married to you. If he is lying you should probably take the indication, no? I thought you are extremely educated.", I shot at Rittika. She looked stumped.
Then I looked at my husband who now looked paler,
"And you.", I said and paused.

"Why can't you just be honest?! Why?! Moti Baa.. I am telling you the truth.", I said, I heard Vanraj Shah say a soft no but who cares?
I looked at Moti Baa.
"The truth is they loved each other many years ago, but then Rittika left him. And suddenly woke up nine years later and came back. And now she wants him to marry her."

"Anupamaa enough!", He said, again trying to defend himself.
I had had enough by now.
"Oh shut up!", I snapped at him.

"If you love someone you must have the guts to accept it.", I stated.
He stared at me, annoyed now.
"You know what?! I have had enough!", He shouted, "I am divorcing you!"

It was time for my world to crumble.
