Dinah and Victoria's Apartment
1:04 PM

It had been weeks since the funeral – weeks since Chloe left the church, weeks since she laid her lover to rest.

She had to admit that as chaotic as that day was, it was the stepping stone to her healing and moving forward. While the process was slow, she was, indeed, starting to feel a change.

Her appetite was slowly coming back. She had started bathing herself, keeping up with her appearance – as much as she felt like it – and even started going to the gym with Victoria and Dinah every now and then.

She was starting to feel like herself again, although a big piece of her was now gone.

While she told her job that she still needed more time, she kept herself busy to prevent intrusive thoughts from manifesting in her head.

They would only plague her mind with guilt – guilt that she couldn't save Normani. That she didn't see any warning signs, that she couldn't stop her from drinking too much.

She couldn't allow herself to go down that rabbit hole. It would eat her alive.

Today she was in the apartment all by herself. Dinah, reluctantly at first, agreed that Chloe could handle keeping her own company for most of the day while the blonde went back to operating the shop with Victoria.

For most of the morning, Chloe was happily in her own little world. She made herself breakfast, caught up on some emails that were sent her way, and did some yoga in the living room.

Thinking it would be a good idea to work herself up an appetite for lunch, she decided to do some spring cleaning.

She cleaned every inch of the apartment. The last room to go was Vic and Dinah's. As she sorted through and organized Dinah's many sketches, her eyes caught the sight of one in particular.

It was a woman's face. A face she'd been seeing a lot of in her dreams whenever she could actually go to sleep.

Though there was no color added, the dread-headed woman could make out exactly what the mystery woman looked like.

Her hair was a dirty blonde, her eyes were hazel mixed with sparks of green. Her skin was perfectly sun-kissed and without blemishes.

Chloe was so entranced by the image, her spring cleaning was put on pause.

She had no idea how long she had sat there, staring at the sketch until she saw Dinah come into the room out of the corner of her eye.

The blonde smiled as she moved her mouth to greet the younger woman, but she saw what she was holding and her face fell immediately. Chloe looked up at her with eyes more serious than ever.
