Rimuru POV
You know that moment when you're just waking up and everything feels perfect? That's exactly how I felt until I realized the warm weight on my chest wasn't just a blanket - it was Ciel, sleeping peacefully like she'd done this her whole life. Talk about a wake-up call.
Looking at her calm face, memories started flooding back. Not just from last night, but from those first moments after my reincarnation. Back when everything was just darkness and silence, when I couldn't see or speak. Ciel had been there, this bright presence cutting through all that emptiness. Without her, I probably wouldn't have made it past day one. Actually, scratch that - I definitely wouldn't have made it.
Before I could stop myself, I reached out and touched her cheek. Her skin was impossibly soft, and I found myself tracing little patterns with my fingertips. Of course, that's when she decided to wake up, her eyes fluttering open to meet mine. Cue mutual blushing and awkward morning vibes.
"G-Good morning, Master," she stammered, looking about as flustered as I felt.
"Morning," I managed, somehow not yanking my hand away like a guilty kid. "Guess we should probably get up..."
The way her face fell? It was like I'd just kicked a puppy. "Yes, Master," she mumbled, trying (and failing) to hide her disappointment.
"I mean," I backpedaled faster than a circus unicyclist, "we could do this again tonight. If you want."
The transformation was instant - her whole face lit up like a festival lantern. "Really?!" she beamed, practically vibrating with joy. I couldn't help but pat her head, which only made her blush harder.
"Anytime you want," I assured her, feeling my own face heat up. "Just... maybe keep the clone thing on the down-low for now?"
"Hai!" And with that enthusiastic agreement, she vanished back into my soul, leaving me alone with my embarrassment and a weirdly cold spot where she'd been lying.
Dragging myself out of bed (why are mornings always so hard?), I shuffled to the bathroom for a much-needed shower. These elf clothes they'd given us were something else - all flowing fabrics and fancy designs. Made me feel like I was playing dress-up in a fantasy movie.
Figured I'd get some meditation in before breakfast, you know, start the day right and all that. But as I settled in and checked my core, something weird caught my attention. "Hey Ciel, is it just me, or am I already at light orange stage? That seems... fast."
<<You're correct, Master,>> Ciel confirmed. <<Your meditation technique was meant to get you to solid orange, but the aether merging with your physical form has been speeding up the core purification process.>>
Now that got my attention. "So... what if I absorbed more aether? Could I maybe create an aether nucleus? Speed up this whole White Core thing, maybe even hit Integration Stage?"
<ABSOLUTELY NOT!> Sylvia's shout made me feel like someone had just cranked up the volume in my head to maximum.
"Geez, inside voice please!" I winced. "What's the big deal? It's not like I'm suggesting anything crazy here."
