I stopped mid bite as Peter slid into the kitchen with a mix of excitement and panic on his face.

"May, Lis! Guys, I need your help." He breathed out.

I dropped my bowl of cereal as Peter wheezed out that we have to help him prepare for the dance, which was tonight!

The next few minutes is May and I scrambling into action. I helped him pick out a dress shirt and tie as he grabbed his only suit— which was slightly bigger than him as May grabbed a pink ribbon corsage.

"Hey, Lis. Try this." Peter came up to me with his face scrunched up, spraying the perfume in my face— in excess amount, causing me choke and splutter.

"Dude!!" I wheezed out as I smacked the back of his head and he snickered.

His snickering infuriated me and I grabbed his head in a lock, ruffling his hair as I press my knuckle into his head and he laughs out.

We suddenly both snapped our head up to see May standing there with a smile on her face, a distant look in her eyes and laptop in hand.

"May?" Peter called out as I let go of him.

"Uh. Yeah, um, I found out how to tie the tie." She says as she gestured to the laptop in her hands.
"C'mon."

We follow her to the living room, exchanging not so subtle hits. May caught on to this but she just simply shook her head at us like a tired mum.

She and Peter finally tie a manageable Windsor knot after dozens of YouTube videos, while I polished Peter's shoes.

"Right?" May asked as she turned Peter, who was now wearing his full suit to me and I grinned, giving them a thumbs up.

Soon, Peter and I are practicing dancing, while May straightened his suit and tells him to look at me, not his shoes. The next minute, we were all dancing and laughing.

May's car pulled to a stop in front of Liz's house and I poked my head between May and Peter from the back seat.

"This is it." I said to Peter and he let out a nervous breath.

"Alright, what's the plan?" May asked.

"I open the door for her," Peter replied, swallowing his nerves, "tell her she looks nice but not to much 'cos that's creepy." He continued.

"Don't be creepy." May added.

"And when I dance with her, I'll put my hands on her hips." He said and I nodded.

"Don't worry, alright? You've got this." I added and he nodded as he opened the door.

"Have fun for both of us!" I called after him and he nodded again.

"Love you." He responded as he made his way to their doorstep.

"He's gonna be alright, right?" May asked as we watched him ring the doorbell.

"Yeah. Yeah he is." I replied as she drove off.

I sit alone in the living room, flipping through the channels mindlessly.

May had gotten an emergency call and she left me with the instruction to relax and do 'whatever it is teenagers do', even though I'm a grown ass woman in my twenties.

My phone rang in the kitchen and I groaned. I must have left it there when I went to grab my popcorn from the microwave.

I glared at the phone till it stopped ringing.
