Marley was in fact wrong about Enid because she was nowhere to be seen.
When they entered the room both girls went to their respectable sides. Wednesday working on her novel and Marley going from restoring anything of hers that she finds broken, to getting up at date on her Spanish.
At some point Wednesday started playing a slower, darker version of the song Marley knew as 'La Llorona'. She didn't mind it at all, it was beautiful song and this version was like music to her ears, literally.
Everything was going peacefully, both girls had an unspoken agreement to leave each other be while they worked, that was until Wednesday's bed starting squeaking.
At this Marley looked up and Wednesday looked to her right, the way the noise came from. The they both looked at each other, getting up from their places and walking over to the bed.
Wednesday pulled back the cover and underneath was a hand. Looking... scared?
Marley didn't say anything for she was in shock but Wednesday spoke up.
"I knew it! Hello, Thing." She greeted.
And that was the first time Marley saw the goth girl smile, but it wouldn't be the last.
'Thing' as Wednesday called him tried to scurry back under the covers but Wednesday caught him just in time for Thing to grab onto her metal bed post.
Wednesday pryed him off and looked at him threateningly.
"Did you think my highly trained olfactory sense wouldn't pick up on the faint whiff of neroli and bergamot in your favourite hand lotion?" She questioned, walking towards her desk as Marley stayed out at her bed.
"I could do this all day." The goth continued.
She slammed Thing on her desk. "Surrender?" She asked.
Thing tapped his hand desperately on the desk.
"Mother and Father sent you to spy on me, didn't they?" She asked, although it sounded more like she wanted to make sure she was right, which of course she was.
Thing started wagged his fingers as a way of saying 'no' to her just as Marley started coming to her senses. She slowly walked toward the desk, trying to get a grip on the situation.
"I'm not above breaking a few fingers." She challenged. "The fact that they thought I wouldn't find out proves how much they underestimate me."
Thing started to actually move his fingers around like he was talking to her.
"Oh, Thing, you poor, naive appendage. My parents aren't worried about me. They're evil puppeteers who want to pull my stings even from afar." She stated. Thing shifted uncomfortably.
"The way I see it, you have two options. Option one." She said grabbing him, opening her desk drawer. "I lock you in here for the rest of the semester," lowering him into the drawer, "And you go slowly insane trying to claw your way out, ruining your nails and your smooth, supple skin. And we both know how vain you are. Option two." She finished putting him back on the desk, closing the drawer. "You pledge your undying loyalty to me." She offered.
The hand bent down in a bowing sort of motion.
"What the actual fuck just happened?" Marley asked from now behind Wednesday, eyes wide of what she just witnessed.
The shorter girl turned to face her. "Were you not listening?" She asked.
"No?! I was kind of focused on the whole," she moved her hands in the direction of Thing, "hand with no body thing going on."
"Thing pledged his undying loyalty to me." She deadpanned, what a surprise.
"His name is Thin- Your name is Thing?" She asked directing the question to him mid sentence.
He moved the top of his.. head I guess. In a nodding sort of motion.
"I've gotta admit that's kind cool." She confessed.
Thing started moving his fingers again.
"What's my name?" Marley asked as she pointed to herself.
Thing 'nodded'.
"Marley." She replied.
What Marley didn't noticed though, that Thing did was the fact that Wednesday hadn't taken her eyes off of the brunette for that whole conversation.
Wednesday turned back to Thing, addressing him. "Our first order of business is to escape this teenage purgatory."
Thing sighed to her.
"Of course I have a plan." She smirked. "And it begins now." She stated. "And I'm going to need your help." This time talking to Marley.
"Like now?" She asked.
"No not now I have to go to a therapy session with Weems." The goth informed.
"Oh so that's why my one got postponed." She realised.
"You go to therapy?" Wednesday asked.
Marley nodded in return, her walls coming back up.
"Why?" She stated.
"I'm not gonna tell you about my trauma." Marley told the girl.
Wednesday nodded and put Thing and a nail file into her bag.
"I'll see you after and I'll tell you my plan." She said, walking out of the room.
"The fuck was that?" Marley whispered to herself closing the door.
