Clara watched as he thanked the man behind the register and took their drinks before walking to a booth.
"A sweet tea for the lady." Setting one of the large plastic cups down he gestured for her to sit.
"Why thank you Mr. Langston. Are you going to tell me more of your secret plan?"
Oliver shrugged, "Like I said, it's a secret. If I go around telling people what's the point of it being a secret?"
Clara leaned forward and smiled when he leaned towards her as well, "I'm a really good secret keeper."
"Oh we'll see about that," Oliver leaned back again, folding his arms on the table. "It'll all be shown in time."
In the 35 minutes they sat at the table Clara would swear that she had laughed more in that time then she had ever before. They discussed his paper, her major, the weather, and everything under the sun. She had known him for little less than a week and already she felt like she had known him for years.
It was exciting and scary and fun and nerve-racking all at the same time and Clara loved it.
As they were getting ready to leave Clara stopped at the counter and ordered something for her boss, chatting with the girl behind the counter while she waited for the food.
"A friend of yours?" He asked as they stepped back outside into the cold.
"Her name's Mason, she's my biology partner this semester." Clara pulled the collar of her flannel up to block some of the chilly February air.
Oliver shrugged out of his sweater and handed it to her, "Interesting name."
"She's really cool, she just started seeing this guy and they're absolutely precious." Clara smiled as she told Oliver the story of Mason and Andrew as they walked back.
