"Are you freaking kidding me?" Mason asked Clara as they sat on the middle level of the library. A soy chai latte in Mason's hands and a flat white in her own.
"Nope, there she was. Standing in his doorway, wearing his shirt. Her tan legs going on for days."
"That's insane."
Clara shrugged, "I saw what I saw. She was beautiful Mason. There's no way I compare."
"Stop. Stop right there Clara Louise Edison."
Clara watched her friend in surprise and Mason continued.
"One: That is no way to ever talk about yourself. I don't give a care if she's freaking Miss Universe. You are you and there's nothing more gorgeous then that. And two: who cares if she's hot. Oliver shouldn't have had her over if you guys are together."
Clara fiddled with her cup of coffee, "But we weren't official. I shouldn't be making this such a big deal."
"Clara," Mason touched Clara's hands lightly, "You were as official as you could be. Who cares if you didn't sit down and say, 'You are now my boyfriend.' You guys were dating. You cared. It's okay to be upset. I would be."
Nodding Clara let out a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. It was okay to be upset.
