She tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for the librarian to finalize all the details on her card.

"Miss Clara Edison?" He stared up at her his bushy gray eyebrows almost engulfed his eyes and pushed the oversized glasses back up his nose where they had fallen.

            "Yes, sir."

He rattled off more of her information and she nodded each time to confirm them.

"Here you go, honey, here's a free ticket to anywhere you'd like to go." He smiles widely at her revealing his set of dentures and she couldn't help but smile back.

            "Thank you so much."

Clara looks around the library wide eyed as she appreciated her surroundings. This was what a real library should look like: books from floor to ceiling and covering every shelf imaginable. This is what a real library should smell like: ink, pages, and bookbinding. This is what a real library was, nothing like the library back on campus or even the small one that was inside her high school back at home. This had history and a story to tell. And honestly, Clara was more than excited to begin to discover all of its secrets.

Her fingers trailed down the bindings of the books as she first made her way down one row of shelves and then another, heading first down fiction and then down the young adult fiction. She wondered down row after row, book after book.

Clara finally stopped when a small blue book in the science fiction caught her eye. Feed by Mira Grant.

Taking the book Clara found an oversized chair and settled in to begin something new.
