Oliver ran after her, his bare feet hitting the concrete hard as he rushed down the steps trying to get her before she left. Trying to explain. He grabbed the railing of the stairs and finally just jumped over it, skipping the last six stairs and landing hard on his feet.
"Clara!" He called out, trying to catch up to her.
He could see her bring her arm up to wipe her face and his heart broke. Even without seeing her tears he knew she was crying and it was his entire fault.
"CLARA! Wait."
She dropped her keys as she wrestled them out of her bag and it gave him an extra second to try and catch up with her but she was already moving. Already grabbing the door of her jetta and already slamming it shut behind her.
He tried to pull it open, "Clara, I can explain."
She refused to look at him as she started the car.
"Clara, it's not what it looks like. Just let me explain."
She gave him one look, and in that look held all the sadness, anger, and betrayal she was feeling.
In shock he took a step back and she was gone.
His world seemed to crumble around him as he fell to his knees and said, "Clara, I'm so sorry."
