Oliver unlocked the door wearily, his anger gone and his will to fight slowly diminishing with each thought that crossed his mind.
What if she really was done?
What if it wasn't worth it?
Would she respond back?
Should he just move on?
Each thought pushed his mood lower and lower.
"Rufus?" He called out searching for the pup.
When he didn't immediately come bounding up he know that she was still there. He paused, he didn't even have enough strength to get mad like he wanted to. Instead he felt empty.
Taking the seven steps into the living room he found her there, still laying on the couch, still in his shirt. Rufus' head lifted up in excitement and Oliver glared, "Traitor."
"Hey Ollie, how'd it go?"
He lifted her feet and placed them on his lap as he sat back on the couch. "I don't know, she doesn't want to see me, she doesn't want to talk to me."
"Is she really worth all the stress? Is she really worth it?"
"We've been over this before, Jenn-"
"No, you didn't give me an answer earlier. You left. So I'm going to ask again and I expect an answer. Is she worth it?"
Oliver rubbed his face, "Yeah, she will always be worth it. Always."
Jennifer's feet moved and when Oliver removed his hands she was sitting up watching him. "You really like her then."
"More than I probably should."
"Do you-"
Now it was Oliver's turn to interrupt her, "Yeah, I think I love her."
She paused watching him and he avoided her eyes, "You never acted this way about me." Her voice was small as she seemed to process everything.
"It's different," Oliver sighed. "With you I had always loved you or at least thought I did. I had loved you for as long as I could remember, you were the reason I came to Central. I had you on this pedestal, you were the Robin to my Ted Mosby."
"We were good together."
"We were good for a while." He corrected softly. "Then you got scared when I asked you to marry me. You freaked out, you cheated, and then you left. You left like it meant nothing."
"But I'm back now."
"You're back for now, but I'm not the same guy I was six months ago when you walked away. I'm different, she makes me want to be different, to be better." Oliver patted Rufus' head sadly, "And I think I screwed that up."
Jennifer grabbed his hand and brought his attention back to her, "So there's nothing I can say to convince you that we need to try again? Nothing?"
"I'm sorry, Jenn."
"Okay," she said standing.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to take a shower and then go out. I need to figure some things out. I can't live on your couch forever, you've already kicked me out one and I'd like to find a place to live before you kick me out again." She smiled and it was the smile that she used to have.
"I'm sorry about that, I just can't think of anything else to make it better."
"It's okay, Ollie. It'll get better. I promise."
