Oliver shifted his weight from one leg to another as he waited for Clara to respond. Biting her lip, she shook her head sadly.
"You cut me out without letting me explain myself," Oliver whispered sadly throwing his hands to his sides. "I don't even know how I can fix this."
With her eyes closed tight Clara finally responded, "Maybe we're not supposed to fix this. Maybe we're not supposed to work."
"You're not giving us a chance to work. At the first sign of trouble you left. You ran without letting me explain myself. You just disappeared and that's not fair."
"You can't be serious," Clara exclaimed as she watched Oliver in shock. "We had plans and you never showed up, you never called to tell me you were going to be late or just weren't planning on being there. You didn't answer my calls and you weren't there. I waited a week before I finally just gave in and showed up at your house and when I did she was there. Why didn't you tell me your ex was living at your place again? Did it just slip your mind? Because I thought we were becoming something and I was really excited. If you were just planning on getting back with your ex I wish you would have just told me because then I could have prepared myself for this."
Now it was Oliver's turn to watch her unable to form a response.
"So maybe we're not supposed to be fixed. Maybe it wasn't our time." She wiped a stray tear from her cheek and exhaled as if she was finally relieved of the weight on her chest and that weight seemed to settle on Oliver's.
