Chapter 3 The Experiment

Two months later, Iris was wandering through the halls of her school till she came across a poster that caught her eye. She looked at a poster that said, "Science Fair" on it. Confused by what it was, she took the poster off the billboard and brought it to her friends.

She entered the study hall; they currently had free study for today, due to the test later that week. She saw her friends sitting at a table at the other side of the room. Iris smiled then ran up to them holding the poster tightly against her chest.

"Hey guys whats up?" Iris asked gleefully.

"Hey Iris, not much, just studying for our science test this week," Jane explained.

"Ohh I love science, there's so much to learn about how earth works!" Iris exclaimed happily.

"Yeah there is, also Iris what's that in your arms?" Lila asked.

"Oh this, I found this poster on the school's building board, what is it?" Iris asked, then showed the poster to the group.

"Oh that, it's the school's science fair, we have it every year," Josh explained.

"Yeah and this year our science teacher Miss. Celine is presenting a discovery she made about five months ago," Ed explained.

"Really? What is it?" Iris asked.

"I can take you to the science lab and show you Iris. I was selected to be this year's helper for Miss. Celine," Hannah explained.

"Ohh! Really well take me there now! I wanna see what she has!" Iris exclaimed excitedly.

Hannah smiled then started collecting her things before getting up and leading Iris to the science lab. When they got their Hannah led Iris to a locked container, she unlocked it and took out the glass tube that had the science project in it. Iris saw that it was some sort of strange pink liquid in it that had a bit of a firm texture.

"Wow what is it?" Iris asked.

"I don't know Miss. Celine found it on an expedition five months ago. She believes she's found an entirely new element to be added into the Periodic Table of Elements," Hannah explained.

"Yes I do and if I do that then this could be the greatest discovery of my career!" the two heard a woman explain. They looked back and saw that Miss Celine had just entered the room with a bright smile on her face.

"Oh hey Miss Celine! How are you doing?" Iris asked.

"I'm doing great! And I also can't wait for the science fair next week, as this discovery is going to be the biggest breakthrough in all of science as I believe I found a new element and that doesn't happen everyday," Celine explained.

"Really? Well then I guess that'll be amazing for you to enter into the fair," Iris explained.

"It is, oh and Hannah I need to ask you to do a favor for me," Celine stated.

"Yeah what is it?" Hannah asked.

"Well tomorrow after class I need you to take this home with you as the science lab will be having a deep clean. We've had some non toxic chemical spills and it needs to be thoroughly cleaned and I don't want any of the cleaning chemicals to get into this and potentially ruin it. So could you take it home and bring it back when you come to school the next day?" Celine asked.

"Sure but why can't it be at your house?" Hannah asked.

"My granddaughter is over at my place as my daughter is out on her anniversary trip with her husband, and my granddaughter is so grabby and I don't want her touching this as we don't know if it's safe or not. I also don't want her to accidentally swallow some of it as well as it could also be lethal as well," Celine explained.
