Pattie and Adan walked into the CIA station to be greeted by a crowd. The press had been disturbing the officers to give them an update concerning the fragging case regarding the Finance Minister, like they didn’t know the case was out of the CIA’s jurisdiction. She managed to pull him through the front entrance and ushered him fully into the station, proud that she was showing off what the CIA in Turner looked like.
Adan sighed and looked around with mixed feelings. What exactly was the Finance Minister doing with Maples’ money? Was she using it to fatten her own bank accounts? He thought that way because the country and state capital were nowhere near Horki’s level when it came to development.
“So, welcome to Turner’s CIA” she said and turned around with her arms wide open like she was a child.
“Are you sure we are at the right place? Is this what your CIA station looks like?” he asked.
“What are you saying? You’re standing here right now, are you not?” she asked.
“I mean, the structure is poor. Look, look at that light bulb. It’s blinking badly, a sign that it needs to be changed” he said, pointing to the dimmest light bulb in the station.
“Figures, your CIA station back at Horki is notable for its magnificent structure but not to worry, here in Turner we still burst crimes despite the structure being shabby” she said and begun to walk to her unit.
“Indeed. How many kidnapping cases have you guys solved in the past year?” he asked.
“Not much, but that’s because the people in Turner have better things to do than kidnapping people. All the kidnapping cases we got were dealt with and the hostages, saved” she answered.
“At least we are better than Horki in that aspect. We heard the CIA lost the Army General and his family to some kidnappers. What exactly were you guys doing?” she asked.
Adan fell still immediately. He was reminded of the 5 again and the reason why he left Horki. He turned to look at her and smiled.
“Let’s go in, shall we?” he said and opened the door to the financial crimes unit.
“Hey there Ruby how’s the case coming along?” Pattie asked as she walked in.
“Great Pat. Oh, is he under arrest?” Ruby answered.
Adan scoffed and turned around to make sure they weren’t talking about him. “Me?” he asked.
“Oh, you must be new here but no suspect is allowed to talk in Turner’s CIA, no matter how handsome he is” Ruby said.
“I’m not a suspect” he said.
“That’s right. He is a CIA agent like you, from Horki” Pattie said.
“Really? What’s your name?” Carter asked.
“Adan” he answered.
“Adan? As in Adan Robertson?” Ruby asked.
He looked at her and could tell that she knew who he was and everything about his Father wasn’t hidden from her.
“Robertson? Your Father is George Robertson? Or should I say, was George Robertson?” Pattie asked, realizing the fact.
“What’s your name?” Adan asked and shook Carter’s hand.
“Oh, it’s Carter. Carter Hayes” he answered.
“A pleasure meeting you” Adan said and took his seat by an empty desk.
Pattie stared at him as he picked up a case file and begun to look through it. She never knew he was the famous Adan Robertson of Horki. She didn’t even suspect it and now that she found out she was beginning to see reasons as to why he claimed he had no one as a family back at Horki.
