The court went into section soon after Adan walked in and took his place amongst the spectators. He didn’t quite know that the fragging case was on everyone’s mind as they all seemed silent about it but with the huge turn out from the public, even he could see the Military Prosecutor and Attorney feeling tense. The whole of Maples was watching and if there was a slight mistake in the presentation of the prosecution or the appeal, the public was going to go for their throats.

The trail Judge on seat that day, Julian Ramos. He wiped sweat off his face as his eyes met with Jones’ from the crowd. She had come to witness the first court hearing and he was shocked when he saw her point at Blesse who sat with the women in the crowd. He wondered if she was going to expose his sexual perversions in front of everyone and ruin his career if the hearing didn’t go as she had planned.

His thoughts soon faded away as Lewis was brought to the defendant’s seat.

“Your Honor, Military trainee Lewis Jones, stands here today, accused of committing the crime of fragging.  On November 24 2042; Military trainee Lewis Jones went on a shooting spree at the Turner Military Training Center that led to the deaths of 17 fellow trainees and 55 being injured and paralyzed before she proceeded to kill them. I submit the autopsy and corpse documentation as evidence. The potential penalty is 20 years” the Military Prosecutor stated.

“Before we continue I would like to rule that the death penalty would not be considered because the Maples Supreme Court’s decision has outlawed capital punishment in a case where the Judge or a court martial would have the option of a death penalty or life sentence” Ramos stated.

The court went into an uproar. Everyone was mumbling and grumbling but while all that was going on, Jones sat in her spot, smiling as she thought she had won. The Prosecutors were basically on Jones’ side and that was why the first Prosecutor didn’t mention anything about the death sentence when he was talking about the penalty.

“You’re canceling the death penalty even when my children died?! I lost three kids to that monster!” a man shouted from the crowd and from nowhere, an egg was thrown at Lewis’ direction. It made contact with her face and the shell cut her forehead.

She smiled, knowing it was nothing because Nebula’s work was worse than anything she could ever get. Oh, no one even noticed she looked like Jesus at his trail. Or maybe they didn’t care.

“Order. Officers, please escort the perpetuator out” Ramos said.

“Prosecution, you can continue” he added and sighed.

“Military trainee Lewis Jones is accused of having used an assault rifle to shoot at the innocent trainees in the Military Training Center at about 3.45am- 4.00am on the 24th of November 2042. The potential penalty is 15 years. I submit the list of the murdered trainees, the weapon used and photos from the crime scene as evidence Your Honor” the second Prosecutor said.

The pictures of the crime scene that had been gathered as evidence contained photos of brain matter on the dirty walls of the training center and blood splattered here and there. Half of the spectators turned away as the photos were displayed on the screen and if not because Ramos was cornered, he would have ordered for Lewis to just be beheaded on the spot.

“What about the survivors list?! I haven’t seen my daughter and her name is not on the list of the murdered trainees” Monica yelled from where she and the other country wives sat.

“Order in the court”

“I can’t believe this. Did you see the way he just shut me up? Don’t worry Mister, social media will hear this” she said dramatically and sat down.
