Dixie leaned against the worn-out bar, her drink now empty. As the train whistle echoed through the air, signaling its imminent arrival, she threw her head back, savoring the last drop. Placing her glass upside down, she left a few extra coins as a tip before making her way towards the exit.
Just as she stepped out of the Saloon, her path was abruptly interrupted by the shoulder of an unfamiliar man. Caught off guard, she stumbled slightly, her boots clattering on the wooden slabs of the porch that wrapped around the front of the Armadillo saloon. Adjusting her hat, which had been knocked askew by the collision, she shot a sharp glare over her shoulder at the man who was now approaching a drunken patron, the drunk man feeling up one of the working ladies the drunk was hollering
"Mr. Marston! Mr. Marston! Over here!"
Dixie descended the steps, pulling a cigarette from her pocket as she made her way towards the train station. A voice called out to her from the top deck, "Hey Dixie you ever gonna let me rock your world?!" attempting to flirt with her. She simply shook her head in disappointment, not bothering to turn around.
"Keep on dreaming, Mr. Huston!" she yelled back, her voice filled with a mix of amusement and dismissal.
Approaching the station, she entered the dusty building, only to be nearly knocked to the floor as someone threw themselves around her. It was Bonnie MacFarlane, a dear friend from the past. Dixie couldn't help but smile as Bonnie's embrace provided a momentary relief for her aching bones.
"Oh, Dixie, it's so good to see my friend again!" Bonnie exclaimed, her happiness evident in her voice. The two friends held onto each other tightly for a moment before finally separating. With a handshake to Amos, they all walked out of the station.
