☽✫.✽✦✽.»»——⍟——««.✽✦✽.✫☾It had been a few weeks since she last saw or heard any of the Marstons. Dixie, had just figured that they have officially grown apart and focused on their separate lives without hanging onto something from the past. Dixie found a sense comfort in the rhythm of her daily routine. Each morning, she rose with the first light, the soft glow of dawn filtering into her small room. The roosters crowed with enthusiasm, signaling the start of another day on the ranch.
She changed into her work clothes, the familiar scent of hay and leather enveloping her as she made her way to the stables. The horses greeted her with gentle whinnies, eager for their morning feed. With practiced ease, she filled the troughs, the sound of munching and the soft snorts of contentment filling the air.
After tending to the horses, Dixie made her way to the pigpen, where the pigs eagerly awaited their breakfast. She chuckled as they snorted and jostled for position, their enthusiasm contagious. She scattersthe feed, watching as the pigs eagerly dug in.
Later in the morning, she joined Amos and Bonnie to take hay out to the cattle. The vast expanse of the ranch stretched out before her, the sun casting a golden hue over the fields. The cattle grazed peacefully, their gentle lowing blending with the rustle of the wind through the grass.
As the day progressed, she rode the ranch perimeter with Drew, her heart swelling with appreciation for the stunning landscape that surrounded her. They checked the fences and kept a watchful eye on the livestock, the bond between them growing stronger with each ride.
In the late afternoon, she made her way to Armadillo, where she spent time with her father, savoring their shared meals and the gossip he shared about the town's happenings.
After returning to the ranch as the sun began its descent, Dixie's evening was filled with tending to her garden, a labor of love that brought her a sense of peace and belonging. As the sun dipped below the horizon, she took on a single night shift, her eyes scanning the perimeter of the ranch with a watchful gaze.
Finally, as the world settled into the quiet of night, she lay down, her mind drifting back over the events of the day, a sense of contentment filling her heart. The comforting sounds of the ranch enveloped her, a soothing lullaby that guided her into the realm of dreams, where she would find rest before embarking on another day just like the rest.
Just as usual the day was going just like normal and as Dixie's horse trotted back to the ranch, the familiar sight of the sprawling fields and the rustic wooden fences greeted her. However, her peaceful reverie was interrupted by the sight of John's horse galloping towards her at full speed, with John firmly seated in the saddle. His expression was filled with urgency and concern.
"Dixie, have you seen Jack?" John called out as he approached barely taking a moment to bring his mount to a halt, his voice strained with worry.
Dixie's heart raced with concern as she took in John's distress. "No, I haven't," she replied, her voice laced with worry. "What happened?"
