John neared Plainview after spotting the tonic merchants wagon, he stopped next to it having already dismounted his horse before he walked closer lighting a cigarette on the way and he could already hear the older man's pleads that he ignored

"Mr. Marston, sir! John Marston."

He sucked the smoke into his lungs and let it out with a angry sigh as the man behind the small tree bundle was doing everything to get his attention

"Mr. Marston. Don't be so childish." West Dickens squirmed out wringing his hands with anxiety "Come on, sir. I implore you!"

John continued to ignore the man trying to control his anger towards the man currently and wanted one second to enjoy the smoke but sadly the fat man made his way out cautiously looking everywhere as he stepped away from the trees that wasn't hiding him in the first place

"Okay, okay, okay so I made a few innocent mistakes when last we met." Dickens quickly said coming to stand beside the quiet scowling man "but, my plan is still sound. Together we can conquer, if not the world, then certainly Bill Williamson."

John scoffed slightly before shaking his head and turning his body slightly to the man "But first, you need me to do you a favor?"  He asked smoke blowing out of his mouth as he spoke

Dickens made a sound of excitement while putting his hands together "Oh, you read my mind...I can only deduce, you have been taking my tonic, sir, as instructed. It can give the most ordinary of intelligences a remarkable insight."

John looked to the man who has followed his short walk to the front of the wagons horses before turning to the man

"I'll give you insight- I'll show you what your guys look like." John stated

"Please, sir, this show of petulance is nothing short of embarrassing." Dicken said, "Think for a moment, sir. Think."

And the bounty hunter has had it with the con man "I'm thinking about how much of my time you're wasting." He said loudly causing the man to become anxious once again

"Shhh...shhh." Dickens shushed looking around before placing a hand on John's arm and walked him toward his wagon, "Sir. Sir. I am about to do something which I greatly discourage in all wise and rational men. A selfless act, for you. But, sir, before I act selflessly, allow me to act selfishly and sell some of my wares." The man pleaded

John couldn't stop his eyes from rolling at the man as he took the draw from his cigarette and threw it the ground where it burnt out in the sand

"Fair enough." John told him and gestured to get going wanting this all be down already

"Oh good, sir. Come" the tonic merchant said relieved, "And let's go visit some of our fine friends in the other oil business we have here in Plainview. These men need all the help they can get."

John stood not replying to the man who hummed as he walked away and John shook his head as the man rounded the wagon out of sight laughing to himself, the bounty hunter threw his burnt cigarette to the ground watching it turn cold as he rubbed his fingers on his temples to try and ease the pounding headache before he turned around making his way towards the small crowd waiting for the tonics man to preach his gospel
