Chapter 12: The Descent

Ava's in the shower when she hears Elena in her room say, "Ava. Ava?" Ava speeds out of the shower and into the room and Elena says, "You're right behind me, aren't you?" Ava smiles and says, "Yep." Elena turns around to find Ava naked and she bites her lip and pulls Ava in for a kiss. Elena pulls away and Ava says, "Good morning." Elena says, "I don't want us to be apart anymore. Ever." Ava says, "Me neither, but--" Elena cuts Ava off and says, "Don't ruin the moment." Elena pulls Ava back in for a kiss and Ava pulls away with a sigh and Elena says, "You're about to ruin the moment." Ava says, "I'm totally ruining the moment. I can't just pretend everything's okay." Elena says, "Katherine's locked away in the tomb." Ava puts on her robe and she says, "I know, but we still have this pressing little issue... of you being Klaus' human sacrifice." Elena says, "Yes, but Elijah promised to keep me and everyone else safe... as long as we played by his rules." Ava says, "Right as long as you played by his rules." Elena says, "Please don't go after Isobel." Ava says, "Katherine said Isobel could have some answers... and I have a couple questions, that's all." Elena says, "Ava, I made a deal with Elijah." Ava says, "Right, you made a deal with him. I didn't make one. You should keep your deal." Elena says, "Ava, I don't want anyone else to get hurt." Ava says, "When have I ever wanted somebody to get hurt?" Elena hands Ava a glass of vervain and she says, "Vervain. I made it light. But are you sure? Just because Katherine built up a tolerance--" Ava grabs the glass and says, "Yes. Bottoms up." Ava drinks it and she starts coughing. Elena worriedly says, "You, okay?" Ava nods and says, "Yeah." Elena says, "How can Elijah compel another vampire?" Ava says, "He's an originial. I don't really know what that means. I don't think anybody really knows what that means. Well, except maybe Isobel. I'll be sure to ask her." As Elena goes to say something, Ava cuts her off with a kiss. Ava walks into her bathroom to get ready.

Later, Ava walks into the Grill and she walks up to Alaric to see him staring at a woman, who she guesses is Jules the werewolf and she says, "Oh, is that the, uh...?" Ava makes a low howl and Alaric says, "Yeah. Yeah. I just, uh, left Damon a message." Ava says, "So, you're doing his dirty work for him." Alaric says, "Hmm. She could have a cure for Rose. I couldn't find anything in Isobel's research. Except that it's fatal." Ava nods and says, "Do you still know of a way to get in touch with, uh-- with Isobel?" Alaric says, "Even if I did, she isn't gonna help." Ava nods and says, "Katherine said that Isobel knew of Klaus." Alaric says, "So, this isn't about Rose. It's about Elena." Ava nods and Alaric sighs and continues to say, "I have an old number. Probably out of service." Ava says, "No harm in giving it to me, then?" Alaric says, "You know you can't trust Isobel. Even when it comes to Elena." Ava nods and says, "I know that." Alaric says, "All right. I'll see if I can find the number. If I do, I'll text it to you." Ava nods and Alaric leaves. Moments later, Ava's phone dings to see Alaric sent the number of Isobel's. Ava calls the number and puts it up to her ear. The call goes straight to voicemail and Ava says, "Isobel, it's Ava Salvatore. I, um-- I need to speak with you. It's about Elena. Please know that it's important." Ava hangs up and she looks over to see Damon. Ava watches Damon go towards Jules and she walks over and stops him. Damon says, "What are you doing here?" Ava says, "Waiting for you. Listen, there's a lot of people here." Damon sarcastically says, "Damn, there goes my plan to rip her spleen through her back." As Damon turns away, Ava grabs Damon's arm and says, "Hey, I know you're upset about Rose." Damon says, "Why does everyone think I'm upset about Rose? I'm fine. I don't know if you know this, sometimes vampires die. I'm gonna have a friendly chat with lady wolf, sister. Ease up." Damon walks away and Ava's phone rings from that number that she used to call Isobel and she answers it and walks away. Later, Ava's at Elena's and she hears the door open, and she walks over to the front to see Elena. Elena says, "Ava, you're home." Ava says, "Rose?" Elena shakes her head. Ava sighs and says, "I, uh-- I called Isobel." Elena says, "I know." Ava says, "I'm sorry. I had to." Elena says, "It's okay. Did you find her?" John appears and says, "Not exactly. Hello, Elena." Elena's surprised as she says, "Uncle John."
