LADY RUMINA BOLTON was Lord Roose's third older cousin. She was known as a rebellious noblewoman who had taken a Skagosi lover while still married to a lord in the Riverlands.
It was said that she despised her husband, so Rumina fled to a small town by the Bay of Seals. It was then ransacked by Skagosis. The Night's Watch were there to defend the town, and it was a bloody fight.
They successfully drove back the foreign invaders to where they came from, all but one- Troden Trigon The Terrible, the leader of the small fleet of Skagosis. He was in a brink of death after the battle, but Rumina secretly saved him. Troden was a handsome Skagosi with fiery red hair, and Rumina found herself falling in love.
Together, they plotted the death of Rumina's husband, and when all was settled, the two got married. The Boltons despised what she did and so they disinherited her. They lived out their days in the town by the Bay of Seals and raised three strong sons, whom then many had called as the feared Trigon Brothers.
The crimson hair of the Trigon Brothers was their signature feature, aside their tall heights and scarred faces. They were almost the exact copy of Troden, with matching physique, and viciousness.
They were trained in a very young age to be skillful killers and when they reached their ladhood, Rumina made them as sellswords and urged them to do business with the Boltons. However, there was an underlying plan behind it. She specifically instructed her sons to assassinate Redon Bolton, the feudal lord of the Dreadfort, and her father. She was his only child, how could he discard her like nothing? She abhorred him for disinheriting her and cursed him to all the Old Gods to make him meet a gruesome tragedy. Rumina lusted for vengeance, and she made her sons to be its vassal.
The Trigon Brothers did kill Redon Bolton. The feudal lord was in a hunt with them in the Dreadwoods when he was held down by his grandsons. The oldest brother cut out his tongue so he wouldn't be able to shout for help. The second oldest brother shattered the bones of his knees with his wedged hammer so he wouldn't escape. Then, the youngest brother poured honey all over his body and waited for the bears to come sniffing.
Two black and brown bears followed his scent of sweet honey, mixed with the stench of iron from his blood. They later cornered Redon who was helplessly crawling on the ground- grunting and wailing, but his cut tongue only muffled his noises of agony. His blood pouring down from his wounded and dislocated knees left a trail for the bears to step on like a red carpet.
The brothers watched at the distance as the black bear bit and tore apart their grandfather's right knee. It was easily ripped away as its limb was already broken. Then, the black bear moved on to bite his left leg, while the brown bear grabbed on his head- both fighting for a piece of him. It became a tug of war between the two bears, and with their brute strength of pulling at each side of his body, Redon Bolton's torso was sliced open. His muscles and bones were torn away that his body completely broke apart. It spewed his insides out. Intestines and other bloody organs slid into view from the confinements of his stomach. Then, they feasted on him, chewing his meat and licking his bones.
The brothers almost got away with it, if their half brother hadn't meddled. This half brother was the son of Rumina with her first husband, who was raised in the Riverlands and became a squire in the Dreadfort. He witnessed their murderous plot and revealed it to the latest feudal lord of the Dreadfort after Redon- Lord Roose Bolton, his nephew.
Lord Redon's widow sentenced them to death, but Lord Roose absolved them from their crime. He did not show it, but he was pleased of what they had done, for killing Redon made him the ruler of the Dreadfort and all its lands. Roose took the brothers in and gave them amnesty in exchange of killing his widowed aunt. The brothers agreed and done it swiftly.
