I groan and place a hand on my head. Wing just finished his lecture, and it was killing me to listen to all of it. I honestly wanted to jump out the window at how boring it was. In the anime, we never actually got to see Gon and Killua get the long lecture, it was only the narrator telling us that they had a long lecture.
This isn't the anime though. This is real. And I had to live through it. All the pain and suffering... At least the boys enjoyed it though, I guess. "A power that dwells within everyone?" Gon asks. Not going to lie, I kind of stopped listening after all the pain and suffering I was going through with the long ass lecture.
I don't even remember what part we're on. "Yes. And that means by which to awaken this power." Wing then holds up 2 fingers, once again saying, "But only two. Either slowly and carefully or by force. Zushi opted for the slow and careful path." I glance over at Zushi who was now standing near his master with confidence.
"Not only was he a quick learner, but he was tireless in his training, so he was able to master Ten in a very short time. About six months." I move my sight to Zushi's eyebrows, suddenly getting the thought of brushing them. Killua then speaks up, telling Wing that that was too long, and that they needed to learn Ten and get passed Hisoka.
"And we've gotta do it before midnight!" Killua exclaims. I cough awkwardly into my fist, knowing that I haven't said anything about me not going up with them. I knew that the albino boy would be upset with me. I just hoped that Gon would understand. "Then it seems force is our only choice." Wing says.
"But is that gonna be fast enough?"
"Exactly how long it takes is up to you and how well you learn to contain your aura in that short time. So, let's get right to it, shall we?" Wing said, stretching his hand out towards us in a dramatic way. I quickly stand up and stand behind Killua, feeling scared of my aura being forced out. If I even have any.
I don't know how all this work, no matter how many times I've watched the show. It's not like in my previous life we had nen. "I will begin your training by transmitting my aura in your direction. This is Hatsu, which you saw earlier." As the boys' let out surprised sounds, I bite the inside of my cheek, hoping to tell Wing not to force it out of me.
I don't want it at all. I might as well cut my adventure short with these two. "And of course, it goes without saying that because I wish you no harm, I'll go easy on you. But this method is still a drastic one." I swallow the lump that somehow formed in my throat and grip the back of Killua's shirt. I could see the white-haired boy glance back at me for a second but then back at Wing.
That meant he didn't care, right? But that small glance seemed like a worried one. I wouldn't know, I guess. I've kind of been an idiot during all this. "In other words, I will attempt to shock you into awakening. I will rouse your sleeping bodies with a jolt, making it so that you can perform Ten easily." Wing says.
Just thinking about it makes me feel nervous. What if something happens to me while Wing is sending a 'shock' through my body? I let out a shaky breath, which I assumed Killua heard because he took another glance at me.
I'm scared...
"The reason I say 'sleeping' is that your aura nodes are currently closed, preventing the free flow of aura. And so, you see by transmitting my aura through you, I am hoping to jolt those nodes into an open position." Wing says, still continuing to explain what he was about to do. I felt my hands start to shake. I should've said that I wasn't planning to go to the 200th floor sooner.
I was an idiot. A moron.
I'm scared...
Something was telling me to back away. Get the hell out of there. But I stayed put, and only because of Gon and Killua. I couldn't just leave them. I decided to stay with them way earlier, I would be an ass if I just left. 'Nothing ever goes great for me...' I thought, biting the inside of my cheek roughly.
"But considering your abilities, you could've accomplished it in a week or less. Which is why it's unfortunate that we are being forced to use the drastic method."
"I don't really get it." Killua says, placing his hands behind his head. I gently let go of the white-haired boys' shirt, believing that it was starting to bother him. "What's the problem? I thought faster is always better, isn't it?" I notice Gon give Killua a nervous smile, along with me who let out a quiet groan because he was stupid.
Wing adjusts his glasses and says, "This method is a cheat and is highly frowned upon. We are skipping the proper steps. If I was inexperienced or bore any malicious intent, I could kill you." Gon then stares at Wing as his confidence grows. "Yeah, but you aren't inexperienced or malicious. So, we're safe with you. Right?" Gon asks.
'Oh Gon... You poor, poor, sweet thing.' I thought, gripping my hoodie, just thinking about how adorable he is. Wing only sighs and places a hand in his hair, ruffling it a bit. "And that's why I've been wondering... What made you decide to teach us the real four exercises all of a sudden?" Killua asks, now moving his hands to his sides.
"Because you are very close to getting it. If you were to enter the 200th floor without any of this knowledge, you would suffer greatly." Wing said. I glance around the room as Wing explains that everyone who is on the 200th floor knows how to manipulate nen. I haven't said anything in a while, which was probably weird.
I thought that I shouldn't interrupt anything. "And it is customary to initiate any new arrivals who are ignorant of nen by attacking with it. In other words, they do what I am about to but without the necessary restraint. They do not care if people die. It's all the same to them." Wing says, sounding way too serious to my liking.
"Only those who prove they are strong enough to survive are welcome to stay there... as the chosen. They have paid a high price for the privilege. That is why it's important for you to be prepared-" I then cut Wing off with a loud, awkward, cough. Everyone was now staring at me, waiting for me to say something.
"Hate to interrupt but uh... I don't think I can do this." I say, biting my lower lip. The two besties give me a confused stare. "Don't think you can do what?" Killua asks, raising a brow. "I-"
"(Y/n), let's have this conversation after. We'll discuss it together." Wing said, giving me a smile. "But-" Getting cut off again as the adult explains and holds his hand out once again, letting out his Hatsu. "It is clear you have the talent and ability. All three of you, take off your jackets and two of you face away me and put down all of your belongings." Wing says, now giving us clear instructions.
The thing is, I was too nervous to listen. "Yeah, uh, let Gon and Killua go first..." I say, trailing off. As the two besties face towards me instead of Wing and place down their stuff and throw their jackets on a chair, I slowly take off my baggy hoodie and fold it nicely. It may have been a bit dirty, but I wouldn't want it to get even dirtier.
I then place it down on the coffee table, also placing my bag on the table as well, watching as Wing places a hand near the boys' back. I didn't have a choice now. 'Fuck. I knew I should've said it earlier.' I thought, wanting to punch myself for being an idiot. As Wing begins the process, I stare at them nervously, holding my hands close together near my chest.
"Now, I'll begin." Wing says, now forcing their nodes open. The besties make a strangled cry. Did it hurt? Was that why they made those noises? Wing then pulls his hand back, saying, "And now every aura node in your body has been opened." The boys' then look down at their hands, shocked that aura was now flooding out. I couldn't exactly see the aura though.
'Please forget about me Wing.' I thought, silently praying that I was just a side character at this very moment. "Th-this is..." Killua starts only to cut himself off. "That, gentlemen, is your aura, also known as life energy. You can see it now because the nodes in your eyes were also opened." Wing says, now having his eyes on me.
I flinch as Wing stares at me. He didn't forget. "It almost looks like... steam rising off the spout of a teakettle. It's so crazy!" Gon exclaims, staring at his hands.
"It's rushing out of every part of my body! And it doesn't look like it's stopping. No way... This can't be good!" Killua said, also staring at his hands. The two boys seemed fascinated by it. As Wing tells the boys that they are seeing their life energy, the only adult in the room kept on staring at me. Why though?
"You're creeping me out..." I whispered, looking over at Zushi who stood next to me...
