I groan as Killua finally lets me go. I watch as Gon and Killua exchange some conversation with them saying they aren't each other's targets. "Wanna show them at the same time?" Killua asks, making Gon smile. I decided to have a seat, even though I keep scolding myself for not distancing myself. On 3, the boys' show who they got.
"Wow. How unlucky." Killua said. "You think?" Gon said, sounding nervous. The boys' then turn towards me. "Who did you get." Killua asked. "You're my target, Killua." I said, lying. "Wait, really?" Gon had a surprised expression. "Yup. So, make sure to keep your guard up." I said, giving him a smirk. I was hoping I could keep up with this lie.
"Yeah, whatever. Like you'd be able to get my badge." Killua was so smug. He may have been right, but he didn't need to rub it in. "Whatever. I'll see you guys' later." I said, standing up and leaving the two boys' alone. I sigh and walk to the wall, sitting down alone. I didn't know what else to do.
This was definitely my chance to distance myself from the besties. I was also nervous because I didn't know who would be targeting me. "Don't be nervous..." I whisper to myself, now seeing the pedo-clown walk my way. "I said not to talk to me." I said, glaring at the red-haired clown. "Just meet me in the middle. I could help you get your target." Hisoka said.
He didn't bother to stick around, which I was grateful for. 'Like hell I'll meet him...' I thought.
=====
"Will the twentieth applicant please get off?" Khara said, making me stand up and walk off the boat. I stare at the trees for a minute, finally walking into it. 'Let's just hope I don't get lost.' I thought, climbing a tree. It was definitely a gamble to figure out who would be attacking. "I don't know what to do..." I thought.
I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be that hard-to-find Imori. He was tailing Killua after all. Although, I didn't know exactly when he started following the albino boy. "Guess I could walk around." I jump off the branch and start to walk forward. I didn't know how far I was away from the starting point, nor did I know if Killua had gotten off yet.
I wasn't great at time. I've walked for about 10 minutes, finally seeing an opened space. "Huh..." I was seriously re-thinking this. 'Maybe I should've waited another year.' I thought. I didn't have a plan at all. I was out in the open and I didn't have a weapon to protect myself with. I just wasn't sure how-to go about this.
"Oh, hello." I flinch and jump away from the familiar pedo. "You fucker! Don't do that!" I exclaim, glaring at him. "I assumed you would not come." Hisoka said, sitting down on a rock. I stop glaring and look somewhere else. "I actually got lost. I wasn't planning to meet you at all." I said, rubbing my neck nervously.
"Oh? What a shame." I scoff, placing my hands into my hoodie pocket. "I'm still mad at you." I say, pouting at Hisoka. I was still wondering what his deal was. He was never like this in the show. I knew it was because of my presence, but I didn't want to admit it. "I understand. I am glad that you made it. This is why I wish to help you." Hisoka said.
I sigh and walk towards the tall clown, standing in front of him. Hisoka only stares at my small figure, waiting for my answer. "I doubt you can help me. My target is part of a 3-man group. And Killua is only 1 number off from mine. If I find Killua, then I find my target." I said, giving the best explanation as I could.
"I see. That is a shame. I could help you find Gon's friend then." Hisoka said, standing up and looking down at me. I swallow my spit, feeling a bit nervous about our height difference. "Y-you don't need to stand over me like a giraffe." I say, backing up a bit. "I can do it myself. The least you can do is stay away. Or at least get me to the water."
Without question, Hisoka picks me up and places me on his shoulder. "I-I didn't say you could carry me!" I yell out. Hisoka ignores my cries and walks into the trees, taking me to my destination.
=====
"Thanks. Now, shoo. I've got a target to look for." I said, shooing Hisoka away. He actually obeyed and walked off without another word. 'Hisoka is a weird man.' I thought, cringing a bit. It's even weirder that Hisoka has changed even a little. I sigh and walk towards the water, dipping my fingers into it.
"It's cold." I say to no one. I then hear rustling in the bushes, making me whip my head in that direction. I was out in the open, nothing but my kick to protect me. 'Shit...' I thought, backing up a little. I was honestly hoping it was an animal. I kept backing up, hoping they couldn't hear my footsteps in the sand.
'Now I wish Hisoka was still here...' I thought, feeling regret. Instead, I get ready to throw my bag, not even thinking about my badge inside. As soon as someone steps out, I throw my bag at them. "Aghh! What the hell!" I flinch, hearing the familiar voice. "Oh. It's just you Fluffy." I say, staring at Killua.
He looked annoyed but threw my bag back at me. I caught it, not saying anything else. "Didn't expect you to be here." Killua said, walking towards me. I step back again, not wanting him to get close. "Killua, not that I ain't grateful that you aren't someone targeting me, but don't come any closer." I said.
"Eh? Why not?" Killua asked, taking another step towards me. He was just trying to annoy me. It was definitely working. "Because I said so. You're lucky I only had my bag to throw at you." Killua then stopped, only staring at me. Not only was I lucky it was just him, but I was also unlucky. I wasn't supposed to find him so quickly.
"Why are you acting like that. Ever since the third phase, you've been acting strange. Especially with that scene with Hisoka." Killua was now staring at me suspiciously. "Killua. Hisoka was my partner. I have every right to confront him about what he did." I said. "And I'm not acting weird. I've always been like this."
Killua sighs, placing his hands behind his head. "Then why are you trying to distance yourself from me. You DID tell me that I was your target." I growl a bit, knowing he was just saying that. "Oh, come on. You already knew I was lying. Knock it off." I say, glaring at the white-haired boy. "Yeah. I know."
I turn my head away, getting annoyed. 'Nothing is working...' I thought. I was annoyed. I was trying not to get frustrated. "Would you just leave? Go play somewhere else." I said, feeling a tick mark form. "What if I don't wanna?" Killua asked. He was seriously pissing me off. I regret ever liking his character.
"Then I'll take my leave. I'll go 'play' somewhere else." I then walk away. I didn't get any more than 10 steps when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I flinched. "Huh?" I bite my lip, swinging my fist to punch Killua. He caught it but his face showed a look of surprise. "What's... (Y/n)?" I stood still, frozen.
'This is Akira's fault....' I thought. I just wasn't strong enough, I guess. If I wanted to pass this dumb hunter exam than I wouldn't have an issue with people touching me. "Just... Don't touch me. Okay?" I quietly say, taking my (s/c) hand back. I stare down at my feet, seeing Killua walk closer to me. "I won't. So, don't leave." Killua said.
"Who's your actual target, (y/n)?"
"It's 198. A number off from yours..." I say quietly. I never look up, knowing I couldn't escape. "Huh. It's better if we stick together then." Killua said. I watch as he lifts his hand up but then places it back down. I sigh, looking back up. Killua was staring at me. His eyes showed he was worried. "I'll only stick with you because we're a number off."
I hear Killua hum, nodding his head...
