Kezia "Kizzie" Shelby, age 11 at series start, 23 at series end (season 6)

Played by model Dorit Revelis

Youngest child and fraternal twin to Finn (he was born first). She is 4 when the brothers go to war. At 3, her mother commits suicide and her father struggles with raising the children. Kezia is particularly a handful--she is failing school, is impossibly aloof, apathetic, and has meltdowns. He commits her to a mental institution. Shortly after this, her father gives up on all the kids and grants custody to Aunt Polly. Kezia is notably missing in the documents, and Polly cannot seek custody without her father's approval.

Kezia is on the autism spectrum, but autism was referred to loosely as someone being "schizoid" back then. Will dive deeper into her experiences with autism.

Alfred "Alfie" Solomons, introduced in season 2

"I remember you, little bird. You hung outside me bakery, hours after your aunt got you somethin'. So tell me, what about this face of mine's got you so interested?"

Alfie will have little cameos in the beginning. Then, once Kizzie is a bit older, we meet him properly.

"Kezia is my buisness and mine alone. Not my family's. And not a single thing she does gets past me. So, Mr. Solomons, choose your next words carefully. This is the last conversation we will ever have regarding my sister, so make them count."

Author's Note:

I write this story from the perspective of someone who is on the autism spectrum. Much of Kezia's personal experiences were my own as a girl before I learned to mask.

Please enjoy! 🥰
