We jump around quite a bit in this chapter, so apologies if people get a little lost. I break off each section with scene breaks, aka ♡ ̆̈.

Please enjoy this early chapter where I break Tommy's heart AGAIN.😓

More bouts of sad Tommy are on their way, don't you worry. Especially next season... If you know, you know.

CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE

Kizzie thought about his arms.

An obsession she was more than willing to become lost inside.

Each night, she visited London. Alfie had tea waiting. Cyril at his feet, wagging his tail like a good boy. Alfie would stand, and say, "I'm glad you could make it."

Without ever saying so, Kizzie knew that he expected her to never see him again. That every kiss they shared would be their last. That she would become so disgusted with him, that Kizzie would never want to see him ever again.

But that could never be a possibility. Kizzie meant what she said when she told Alfie that she loved him. She only wished he loved himself as much as she did him.

"Why does my skin not frighten you?" he asked her one night.

Kizzie cocked her head. She and Alfie sat beside one another. She was pressed against his side, head in the crook of his neck where some of the red patches were the most severe.

"I don't know," she told him, truthfully. While not pleasant to look at, Kizzie had never been turned away from his health. "But it bothers you."

Alfie grunted his agreement. "It is bothersome, aye."

"Are there any treatments for it?"

"Ah," Kizzie felt him tense. "Some."

She squeezed his arm. The collar of his shirtsleeve was rolled up. With timid fingers, Kizzie touched the veins on his inner forearm, unable to help herself. His skin erupted in goosebumps at her touch.

"I can come with you to the doctor. I don't like going either."

Alfie turned to kiss her forehead. "I'd like that."

When Kizzie returned home, Arthur had just arrived.

"Kizzie girl," he greeted, outside at the driveway. "I thought you were already back."

Her heart leapt. "I was," she lied. "I was just out by the horses. I wanted to see Dangerous."

"Ah." He linked an arm around her shoulder. Kizzie hoped she didn't smell of Alfie. "That damned beast still only likes you, innit?"
