everything seems as if I were underwater. voices that others can hear clear, are mummers to me. faces that people can see are blurred spots above. I can't make sense of anything.

"baby, can you hear me?"

mummer after mummer.

the sky is full of smoke. everything is hazy. I'm being shaken but everything is numb. I'm numb.

"come on, stay awake."

then it's just darkness welcoming me in like I good nights sleep.

beeping is all I hear when the darkness becomes lesser and lesser. something is on my face but I'm too tired to move. my body won't move.

my eyes open, just to shut again, the beeping picks up slightly. I'm in a bright room.

"Kennedy?" I hear a hopeful whisper.

I groan in response, clenching my eyes shut as the light hurt every time I opened them.

I hear shuffling before I hear the light switch.

"it's off now." it's the same voice whispering.

I don't open my eyes. I fall into another blank space of darkness.

and almost as if it lasted a second, I hear whispering, then shuffling once more. this time, more than one person.

"come on man, go eat. she's okay, she'll wake up soon."

"I don't want to leave her side."

"I promise you, everything will be okay. she'd want you to eat, you know? she'll beat both of our asses if you don't eat."

something about the back and fourth really irritated me as it woke me up.

I groan pulling the oxygen mask off, "go fucking eat before I beat both of y'all's asses."

I put my arm over my eyes even though I could tell the lights were off.

"see? I told you - oh shit."

I open them and it takes a while for my eyes to fully take in everything clearly.

I met by both anxious but excited boys, Nick and Noah.

"morning boys." I give them a cheeky smile.

"oh my god." Noah let's out before embracing me.

"you scared the shit out of me." his voice is mumbled by my hair.

"I'm right here, it's okay. I'm okay, I promise." I soothe.

we hold each other for what feels like forever. Nick left to go tell everyone that I am now awake and to get the nurse.

"how long was I out?"

"5 hours."

"5 hours!?"

"you needed it. your body was so weak and trying to shut down as you weren't breathing properly. you had so much smoke in your lungs."

wait. where's Ozzi?

almost as if he knew what I was about to ask, he speaks. "he's safe and healthy. he's at our house."

I let out a sigh of relief, before falling into a coughing fit.

he instantly springs into action and grabs me a glass of water which I down in record timing.

"better?" he asks.

"better." I give him a smile.

he smiles back and kisses me on the forehead, "I'm so happy you're okay."

"you and me both."

soon everyone comes in one at a time and greets me. hugs and a bunch of "I'm glad you're okays".

the last person is what shocks me the most.
