Chapter 17: Work and Recovery

     After being unconscious for 4 days in the hospital Isabella has finally woken up. She wasn't sure what had happened since she had been unconscious, but all she knew was that Keigo was there with her in the hospital when she woke up. Before she woke, Isabella had heard a woman's voice encouraging her to keep going and to go back to the ones that she loves and that love her. Little did she know that it was her own mother, Stella, that was helping her go back to everyone.

     Keigo tries to catch Isabella up on everything that he knows of so far, but he can't tell her everything. Due to his promise to Blaise. Isabella requested to leave the hospital earlier than what the doctor was really wanting her to leave. But, she didn't care. She wanted to leave the pity stares from everyone that was pacing by her at the hospital because she was previously unconscious. She went through the same tests from before and got cleared from the doctor to leave the hospital early.

     While Keigo went to sign the discharge papers to take Isabella to his apartment to take care of her, Keigo's phone goes off for a text from Blaise. But, it wasn't Blaise, it was Dabi who had texted Keigo back. Isabella and Blaise ended up texting back and forth making plans to catch up the next day. Then, Keigo takes Isabella to his apartment. When they get to his apartment, Isabella realizes that Keigo is the person that she wants to be with for the rest of her life. But, she isn't sure if that is what Keigo wants. She sleeps next to him like a baby and gets the best sleep.

Isabella's Pov

     It's the middle of the night. Keigo and I sleep soundly next to each other when his phone keeps going off back to back to back. We kept trying to ignore it, but we just couldn't. That's when Keigo finally had enough.

     Keigo carefully sits up making sure he doesn't hurt me with my burns and grabs his phone as goes back to holding me. As he looks at his phone, it buzzes as if it was ringing again and then he answers, "Hawks speaking."

      I bury my face in his chest as he holds me closer to him. Damn it... It's work, probably the commission is pissed off that he hasn't worked in so many days. I try not to think too much about it and remember that he is here with me now. That it will all be okay.

     Keigo stays silent for a while, "I understand, I will be there tomorrow morning. Yes, I will be patrolling and looking into any criminal activities. Like I mentioned before 4 days ago, I was not going to work because of an emergency that I had to take care of and there is nothing you could do about it." He said so sternly.

      I look up surprised and his face is very serious then he pushes my face back into his chest. I could hear how fast his heart was pounding against his chest.

     Then after he talked with the commission a little bit longer, he hung up the phone and sighs. "I'm really sorry Bella... I have to go to work tomorrow. And I know I told you I would stay with you."

     I smile and shake my head, "It's okay Kei you don't have to apologize for doing your job." I hug him as I cuddle back up close to him as we fall back to sleep.

     When I fall back to sleep I keep having the same dream of this woman's voice speaking to me. I wish I knew who it was and why she helped me when I was unconscious. Was she just being nice? Did she feel bad like everyone else? I still tried to process everything with the dreams and how she knew so much about me and my life. In my dream, I can see the figure of the woman that was talking to me. When I go to approach she doesn't move to come closer to me. But, it does seem like she's getting clearer. Right when I am about to get close enough to see the woman so clearly, I hear a loud alarm and it wakes me up.

     Jumping awake, I look around scared and screams in pain from me suddenly moving. My screams in pain and jumping up wakes up Keigo immediately. "What?! What's wrong Bella?! Bella?!" He crawls over to me as I'm hunched over with my body shaking in pain.
