"oh jungwon," she called him softly after she raises her gaze from her textbook, surprised by the proximity of their faces as she unknownly backed out a little, just enough to look into his boba eyes.
jungwon looked at her with brows raised in awaiting of her to continue her sentence, humming as a sign that he was listening. "i'll leave for a vacation next week, so you won't need to tutor me for at least a week i think."
he nodded, breaking the eye contact almost immediately and clearing his throat as a wake up call for himself. why is a part of him disappointed? maybe it's just because she gets to go on a vacation with her family while he doesn't.
sometimes he wishes to have a loving family like other teenagers.
yeah sure, they tell him they're proud of him for his excellent grades, but jungwon doesn't know what it feels like to do any activity with his family. even a movie night would be enough for him.
motherly love? what is that? jungwon barely sees his parents. growing up in a respectful family, jungwon's parents were always busy working so he was basically raised by his grandmother. it's the mother figure he'll never have.
they weren't there when he took his first step, they weren't there to teach him how to ride a bike, they weren't there to cheer for him during his basketball games, they weren't there for any of his graduations either. but his grandmother was. hence why, he stays over her house most of the time whenever he can, since his house is always empty.
he envies other for getting something he'll never have back.
haeun analyzed his features for a moment, catching the glimpse of discomfort and sadness painted across his face. but those were washed away as soon as the boy realized she was staring at him, flashing her a smile as to reassure her everything's fine.
is he sad he won't see her for a week? nah, that can't possibly be it.
"did i say something wrong?" the girl questioned softly, trying to get back the eye contact he was avoiding so bad. "no no, don't worry. where are you going?"
the female shrugged it off and just focused back on the page of her physics book, taking her pencil from the desk and doodling the most random things everywhere there was a blank space. "italy. rome i think."
his lips met into a circular shape amazed just by imagining how pretty rome could be, moving his head up and down multiple times as he admired her side profile whilst she busied herself to fill up the textbooks with scribbles.
"make sure to try pizza then." haeun chuckled while small smile made its way to her glossy lips, diverting her gaze from the paper to his gentle yet sharp eyes. she could never lie about the fact that as much as she could still find his goody-two-shoes personality irritating, his eyes were so mesmerizing.
"have you ever been there before? is there something specific i shouldn't miss on?" jungwon shook his head with lips pressed firmly into a thin line, earning a pout from the girl seated beside him. she really has no clue what to visit once she gets there. she heard about a few things here and there but she seriously has no idea how to spend a week there.
"ah that's a shame then, i'll tell you how it is so maybe you'll visit it one day." she returned the smile he gave her, dark chocolate irises falling on the two dimples that caved his pearl-like cheeks.
"make sure to take a lot of pictures, from what i've seen, italy is a beautiful place." she nodded her head and averted her stare once again on the physics textbook to pay back attention to the complicated shit she had to study.
she can't even imagine how envious he feels right now.
i hate this 🏃♀️
anyway can yall tell i'm italian
