[Mentions of losing childhood to trauma]

The innocent gaze pierces
my stone flesh.
Melting away any frozen debris
oblivious smile
pains my heart.
Reminding the sodden earth of juvenile me.

Poem explication

In this poem there are two characters, the narrator and a child. The narrator has turned cold and indifferent to the world due to the trauma they experienced as a child. Naturally when the child comes upto the narrator, they still are indifferent to it's presence.
The child innocently smiles at the narrator, oblivious to the fact that the narrator does not want them near themself. This innocence reminds the narrator of themself as a child, and the earth is dampened with their tears. The narrator's heart aches to see the child so innocent, and it keeps them wondering how long till the innocent mind turns out to be like them.

This poem is dedicated to a teeny tiny friend of mine, whom I met at school.
