Miranda's pov:-
"I have been thinking about the prophecy", Elizabeth suddenly tells me.
"What do you mean? " I ask her, confused.
"About how it will come true when we become 150 years old."
"We still have 50 years then."
"I won't be staying that long."
I look at Elizabeth completely confused. "But what are you talking about, Eliza?"
"I am going to go and join Aslan. And before you say anything, I have already thought this through. You should also come with me. Jadis may call herself our mother but she does not act like it. Please come with me Mira. I don't want to leave you with her alone."
I look at my sister thinking about what she said. If mother catches her then she will be killed. And even if she does succed in running away, where will she find Aslan?
"So are you going to come back to the palace or are you running away now?" I ask her, heartbroken.
"I can't go back. If I do then I might never leave. I am sorry. I know she will send you to kill me. Can you please cast a projection to convince her that I am really dead?" Eliza asks her sister. "I know I have no right to ask this of you. But keep it a secret as long as possible."
I nod not trusting my voice. We hug each other. I don't know when we will meet again.I couldn't wait around to watch her go. I reared my horse and went off towards the palace.
Elizabeth's pov:-
I watch my sister go back to Jadis. I just wish that she had come with me. Now I need to do the most hard task. Stay away from Jadis' minions and find Aslan.
"Hello, I heard your entire conversation." An eagle says, startling me. "Apologies, I didn't mean to frighten you. My name is Arathorn. I heard how you wanted to join Aslan's side. I can take you to him if you trust me."
I think about the options I have. If I tried to find Aslan myself I would never be able to. I have never seen this eagle so he may not be lying about Aslan.
"Alright take me to Aslan." I finally tell the eagle.
"Follow me", he says. I turn my horse away fom the palace with one last look at it wondering what was happening inside.
Miranda's pov:-
I enter the palace and go straight to my room. If mother finds me like this I will have to tell her about Eliza immediately. I couldn't do that to her. I decide to give her a day's head start. After that I will tell mother that she didn't come home.
Next morning-
At breakfast I decide it was time to let her know the truth.
"Mother, there is something I have to tell you", I tell Jadis.
"What is it darling?" She asks me, as always without the warmth I want from her.
"Yesterday when Eliza and I were returning from our ride, she told me to go ahead and that she would like to be alone outside for some time. I was exhausted from our ride and I went to sleep early. This morning when I woke up I realised she had not returned."
Jadis only nods her head. I know that she never very much liked Eliza but I always thought that she cared atleast a little bit about her. I just realised that she didn't even care what happened to her.
"Your majesty, Princess Elizabeth has just been seen with Arathorn, an eagle who serves the lion." Otomin informed Jadis. I stare at them in horror.
How did they see her so quickly?
"What did you say?", Jadis asks, her tone icy. Otmin repeats what he said again.
"How could she betray her own mother like that? Stupid child. My dear Mira I believe it would not be very hard to kill her would it?" She asks me very sweetly.
I looked at her without any emotion on my face. "No it would not be very hard. She betrayed you after all." I tell her.
She smiles at me and tells me to get going. I realise Eliza was right. She only acts like our mother but is not.
Elizabeth's pov:-
"Wait I hear movement", Arathorn tells me.
I also stop and listen. It has only been 2 days since I ran away. They couldn't have found me so easily, right?
I prepare myself. Arathorn and I only wait for 10 minutes when we see a small group of Jadis' followers approaching. Leading it is Mira.
"Let me deal with this", I tell Arathorn.
Arathorn nods at me and flies away to a nearby tree and waits to see if I will need his help.My sister approaches with the group. "Greetings sister", I say to Mira when she is within hearing range. Without replying she turns to a minotaur and nods her head. I draw my sword and stand my ground. When they charge at me I kill them very easily. Only Mira remains. I cannot understand what she will do. She can use magic and she is more powerful than Jadis. So why did she not take me on herself. She sighs and turns around.
I go a bit nearer to see what she's doing. She is casting a projection of my dead body. The body is badly injured.
Once she is done she turns to me. I nod my head thanking her for her help. She turns around and rides away. I watch her go heart broken.Arathorn decides to come down. He looks at me sadly. "Will you like to rest or continue on?", he asks me. I think about it and decide to move on.
Miranda's pov:-
I enter the throne room, head held high. Mother sees the body I am carrying and raises an eyebrow.
"I didn't fight her at first. I let the rest of them go ahead. She killed them all but was heavily injured. I finished her off quickly after that." I inform her.
"Very good, my dear Mira."
I realise that maybe Eliza was right about me being more powerful than Jadis.
