„By next week?!“ Ghost grunted into his phone, annoyed by Price's sudden change of plans. He was supposed to be on leave for another 3 weeks, but things occured. The way they always fucking did.
He looked out the window of his parked car whilst the captain explained his reasons. Ghost took in the green park in front of him. People reading, children chasing each other, Couples young and old.
“Got it...” The lieutenant grunted in response of whatever Price said to justify Ghost being called in earlier.
His eyes focused on one couple lying on a spread out blanket in the middle of the grass, holding hands as one read a book and the other one ate some strawberries. Peaceful summer day innit.
Next he watched some kids play with water guns. Running, screaming, jumping…
“...,Until then, Captain.” He hung up, tossing the phone onto the passenger’s seat. He massaged the bridge of his nose and let out a deep sigh, checking his watch once more.
“Where in the bloody hell is she?” he snarled, growing more worried with each passing minute. He got out of the car and fixed himself a cigarette, leaning against his car to smoke it and stare at the big building in front of him.

His hand was burning from the way your nails digged into it. He didn’t dare to protest, considering you’re going through the worst pain of your life right now.
You screamed as a whole bunch of medical staff was gathered around you, ordering you around the one moment and talking in hushed tones the next. The sweat was not only running down your forehead in heaps, but also off Ghosts own. What did all this mean? It’s been too long without any process.
He will never forget your cramped up face looking up at him occasionally, seeking comfort. Comfort that he could not give, no matter how hard he tried.
“Water?” he asked, holding the bottle ready for you as you let out another deafening scream. His immediate reaction being his grip around your hand tightening and angrily glaring at the staff, ready to bark.
“What’s the bloody status?!”
They shook at the lieutenants loud tone, pulling them out of their negotiations.
“We’ll have to do the caesarean section, sir.”
They tried talking to you before but you’ve been going through hours of labour and were in no state anymore to reply properly.
“Fuckin…Go on then?!,” his voice a threatening growl, he quickly shifted his gaze back to you panting next to him in the hospital bed. They instructed you both on what the next steps will be but you were too busy yelling at them and crying to take in any information. You had already agreed on a c-section beforehand in case of complications; Still talking twins, after all.
His thumb stroked along your hand gently as he came closer.
“Love, I won’t be allowed in there…”
