Nathaniel
I could feel a glint of envy along with sorrow gleaming in Zariah's eyes. She was jealous of my sister.
Her eyes were lingering with the longing, having the untold desire she has never told anyone in her entire life.
"Tell me once, do you think I couldn't give that attention and affection to you?" I whispered in a barely audible tone.
It was jealousy for being unable to have such a happily ever after.
"Sorry what? I didn't hear." Zariah asked, turning her head to me, cutting her talk with Cinzel and turning to me.
"I didn't say anything." I mumbled coldly, not meeting her gaze.
"I thought I heard. Anyways, what were you saying, Cinzel?" She asked, turning to Cinzel, talking to her again while I began to use my phone.
After lunch, we went to our room for a moment, closing the door behind, I said sternly, "Stop being jealous of my sister."
Leaning on the wall, I closed my arms at my chest yet a tingle evoked from my heart as well because if this gloom is gobbling her then it's 'my' fault for being unable to prevent it.
No matter how many times I tell her to not be dejected from me- she will be. I am her liar after all.
"I have all the reasons to do it. She possesses what I don't." She whispered, the fragile string of hopelessness in the corner of her eyes stole my solace.
"Why shouldn't I be jealous of Cinzel, Nathaniel? She has everything." She shrugged coldly.
"What? A happy married life?" I jeered, speaking of the most obvious thing but my words came as a joke to her, chuckling as she shook her head in denial.
"No, a happy married life is already a privilege to have. But she has my precious." Lifting her heavy gaze, bewildering me.
"What?" I asked, what Cinzel has? She had nothing to do with the underworld even.
With her aura deluge in sorrow, a whisper escaped her lips, "You."
Taken aback at her response, My glee faded, staring at her face with a mystifying but it locked the emotions.
"Words are such a blessing, right? Not everyone was strong enough to share their feelings. They only pray and sometimes don't get what they desire even after having it." She began to say, considering our silence at fault.
"She has your emotions, she has your smiles..." Swallowing hard, her painful smile grew wider, "She has your love."
Coming closer, she gripped my shirt, meeting my eyes intently to forge an agonizing rhythm of unrequited love, "Am I not supposed to be jealous of her after that?" She asked, voice slumped in dejection.
Ask me. Just, ask me...
"Zari..." Brushing my knuckles on her cheek, I asked softly, "Why do you even want my love?" My soul was aching to apprehend why her mysterious eyes hide.
I want to know what secrets are buried in her heart but she is not letting me invade her space- Or perhaps I am not trying myself; I don't know.
"Leave it." Her hands parted from my proximity, moving back, tugging her hairs, she returned a beautiful smile, "You wouldn't understand." She said sweetly, taking my hand, leading us out to Cinzel and everyone.
Prince and Cinzel were as usual lost in their world, exchanging romantic phrases, confessing their undying love for each other but pulled away when we came.
