Ineffably abashed by his words, I lowered my head, my grip turning rigid on my fork and spoon, this is an affliction which cannot be subsided.
"Tell me..." He leaned, the smirk growing atrocious.
"Tell you what?" Nathaniel asked, voice composed.
"About how you got married." Prevaricating smoothly, he smiled up at him.
"I am curious to know how you two fell in love." He asked. Diffident in his presence, I curled my toes, disquiet about my next words but Nathaniel chuckled, sitting across from me.
"Oh, the feeling was mutual. Her Father proposed the idea and I was like; why not?" He shrugged nonchalantly, staring in-depthly at me.
"I mean, just look at my beguiling wife. Mine." My heart skipped a beat when his eyes connected to mine intensively, whispering.
"Utterly desirable." He spoke in a low tone so no one could hear. Turning away timidly, I cleared my throat.
"Seems like she is a demure person." Dante teased me.
"Yeah..." He hummed eyes hovering over mine with a deadly presage abstruse for me.
I don't know how to tell Nathaniel. He doesn't bear anything and if he came to know Dante was my ex-husband, I cannot fathom his reaction. How furious he would be, this thought alone sent shivers down my spine.
After dinner, we went to our room. I could feel my heart pounding rapidly in an uncontrollable rush of anticipation.
"This frontage of a seraph is highly specious, you know. Even for a second I got lost in it."
Snickering he lifted my chin, linking his perniciousness into mine, "Such a flawless actor." Mocking, he pulled me closer.
"Less than you." Retorting, I pulled away.
"Did he say something?" He asked casually.
"No, why?" I asked.
"You seemed disquiet. That's why." He hummed, wearing his waistcoat.
"I wasn't." Responding, I closed the buttons of his coat. "Zari."
"Hmm?"
"You do my everything, food, clothes, all of it. I am curious, Why don't you secure my tie too?" He asked, setting his hairs in the mirror.
"I don't know how to." I shrugged, taking a step back after closing his buttons.
"Oh.." He made an 'o' face, getting ready to leave for work again.
"Then learn." He smirked, taking his stuff, leaving me alone in this labyrinth.
After he left, I could feel the tingling sensation of stress multiplying numerously, drying my throat in tension as I cannot persuade the words struck at the verge.
What should I do?
"Where are you going, Mrs. Alroy?" The mock in his tone made my heart race.
"It's none of your concern."
Vera is my jailer and if she comes to know, she will tell Nathaniel everything and this will ruin our whole plan.
"My, such impudence? I am your guest, you know." Jeering, he closed the distance between us.
"Get away, Dante. I have no intention of involving myself with you anymore." Breathing out, I tried to remain cool.
"Why would you anyway? You already gained what you desire by ravaging me." He snarled, taking another step closer.
"Maybe I should salute you for being so assiduous that you even married Nathaniel Alroy for the same purpose. You are nothing but a dead piece of flesh thrown around for selfish purposes," He hissed, spitting the facts I was trying to change but they were chasing me like a dark shadow.
