"Enslaving you is my darkest desire..." His lips latched to her neck, smirking darkly with hands gripping her waist, enunciating.
"And nothing in this world could stop me from possessing you, Zari."
Halting her breaths to resist the temptations of his voice, She breathed out, "And how far did you plan to follow my trails to complete your darkest desire?"
His smirk grew wider, darker, confessing his intentions.
"To the depths of hell."
Lifting her heavy gaze to collide his stoic ones, she whispered, revolted, vexed.
"You will only devastate yourself by this desire at this stage, Nathaniel." 'Call my name again.' A satisfactory shiver went down his spine when her hurried and out of breath lips called his name.
"So what?" He chuckled darkly.
"The day my lips stopped chanting your name is long gone." She enunciated, turning to him slowly, creating distance to resist the aura weighing her sense at the closeness.
"And I will never- I repeat never return to your arena again." Pressing her palm firmly on his chest, she moved him back, eyes ripped from feelings.
"Is this the extremity of your resentment?" He asked, grabbing her wrist to feel her hand on his heart, pressing it over his chest to make her feel his rapid heartbeats.
Narrowing his eyes in dejection but none of it matters anymore, "One could call it that but it's not that." She whispered, masking her emotions with deadness.
"Then?" He asked, mixing his loud breaths with her tense ones.
"I have departed both me and my emotions to prevent them from further collision with yours. I hold nothing towards you now." She replied nonchalantly, irked by his hand in hers, yanking it back harshly, leaving his stunned.
His eyes widened for a second as a hint of hurt flickered when she didn't bother to hate him too. Literally nothing...
"Do you regret it?" He asked in a hopeless rush of ache, coming closer, closing their gap to fulfill his yearning but she didn't let him.
"That's the only regret I have." Loving you. She retorted, closing her arms, leaning back on the railing, maintaining her distance now.
"Then why did you come back?" He growled, weary of her demeanor, slamming his one hand on the side.
"Why does it concern you?" She shrugged, narrowing her eyes in bewilderment.
"What do you want? You could have left it all behind but didn't. You could have lived peacefully, you had the chance, you had no shackles yet... you returned... Why, Zari?"
'And your one glimpse dug what I buried long ago.' He hissed, losing his forbearance, seeing her again evoked what he concealed perfectly and now it is overflowing.
Smirking at his vulnerability, she leaned closer, contemplating his reaction with amusement.
"You sound so desperate..." She whispered seductively, tracing her nail on the side of his face, snickering, "Pathetic."
Tweaking her hand away, he snarled, the words his lips pursued were beyond his cognition, he was senseless, the proximity blinded him.
"What should I consider your return if it's not revenge or hatred for me?" Unable to grasp his emotions, he spoke mindlessly.
He should have known she won't return for him anymore. He had closed that path.
"Consider it the origin of my reign."
