That was the reason why he looked so familiar with me, why his voice was familiar. He's a Dela Cruz and even though we never really bonded with him and his sister, we talked to him occasionally on the phone.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Duke again.

He shrugged his shoulders and looked at me. "Do I owe you any explanations?" he asked me back.

I tried my best not to roll my eyes in front of him.

Name one Dela Cruz that is not an asshole and you won't be able to do it!

"You don't, yes. But I don't think you will magically appear as my neighbor out of all the places here in New York..." nakipagtitigan ako rito ngunit sa huli ay ako rin ang nagbawi dahil sa tiim ng titig nito sa akin. It was as if he's reading my mind.

"I wasn't even aware that you're living here," sagot ulit nito sa akin bago humarap sa pinto. Akmang bubuksan nito ang pinto ng unit nito nang lumingon ulit sa akin.

"Do you need anything else?" he asked me and cocked his head on the side. I looked at him and looked at his hand with the key.

"Aren't you going inside? Or maybe invite me in?" tanong kong muli sa kanya habang nakatayo pa rin sa gilid ng pinto nito.

Duke looked at me impassively. "Look, the unit is still a mess, I am still organizing my stuff," he replied. "I'll invite you some other time," he added, as if dismissing me already.

Tumango na lang ako ng marahan dito bago muling nagsalita. "Thank you for helping Theon with Lucy..." sabi ko rito habang nananatiling nakatayo sa harap nito. Alam ko na malaking papel din ang ginampanan ni Duke para sa aming dalawa ni Theon.

"It was wasted, though," he replied and shrugged.

Natigilan ako sa sinabi nito. Of course, he knew. Alam na nito na hindi kami magkasama ni Theon. Alam nito na walang kinahantungan ang naging pagtulong niya sa akin, sa amin.

"I'm sorry..." I looked down and smiled a little. Wala naman akong ibang maaaring masabi rito bukod doon. Hindi ko naman din dapat kinukwento na lang bigla ang nangyari sa amin.

"It's fine. None of you wanted that to happen," he replied.

I looked at him again and creased my forehead. "Do you know where Theon is?" diretsong tanong ko rito. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero may biglang umusbong sa dibdib ko na pakiramdam na may alam si Duke kung nasaan si Theon ngayon.

He smirked sarcastically while looking at me. "Do I look like a walking lost and found station to you?" he asked me before shaking his head. "I have no idea where he is, Lean, and I am really tired. Thank you for the food, now will you please allow me to go inside my unit without you interrupting me?"

Napasimangot na lang ako bago naglakad papunta sa unit ko at muling nilingon ito bago pumasok sa loob.

Hindi ko maalis sa isipan ko na si Duke ang nasa kabilang unit ko. Maybe it means something, but... why would he lie to me about Theon's whereabouts?

All of them wanted us to be okay...

"What's with the long face, Lean?" mom asked me when she walked towards me. Kakarating lang nito at may mga dala itong prutas para sa aming dalawa.
