Time: Present
Hamilton age: 24
Washington age: 42
Context: With his father gone, Hamilton needs someone new as an emergency contact. (THIS IS HEAVILY INSPIRED BY AN AO3 FANFIC FROM A TOTALLY SEPARATE FANDOM. IF I REMEMBER THE AUTHOR I'LL ADD IT AT THE BOTTOM.)
Third person pov:
Hamilton knocked on the door of his boss's office and sighed when there was no response. Of course, Mr Washington was shutting out the rest of the world to get his work done. Whenever Hamilton complained about it, his coworkers would always say "Like father, like son" which Hamilton always thought was ridiculous. Washington wasn't anything like a father, right? Hamilton's father worked in the same office as them, so why would anyone say that?
To be fair, their relationship was absolute shit, and Hamilton's father ignored him for the most part.
Finally, the door opened. "Hamilton! What are you doing here? I thought John said you'd be at home." Washington muttered. "Actually, I needed to talk to you." Hamilton said, which was his way of inviting himself into Washington's office. "Of course, have a seat wherever." Washington wasn't surprised when Hamilton sat in his favorite chair. "So, what is it you wanted?" "It's my father, actually. He was-" Washington held up a hand to interrupt him. "Hamilton, I don't want to talk about him right now. We're all very upset that he's gone. None of us are ready." Washington explained. "Yeah, but it's-" "No. Get out." Washington demanded. If there was one thing that everyone knew about Hamilton, it was that if he had a point to make, he would do whatever it took to make it. "My father was my emergency contact!" He blurted out. "What... oh, why didn't you just say so?" Washington asked. "You didn't let me!" Hamilton snapped back. "I'm sorry. I really shouldn't have yelled." Washington apologized. "It's fine... I was wondering if you could be my emergency contact now?" Hamilton asked.
"Of course. And Alexander?" Washington asked as Hamilton turned to leave. "Yeah?" "If you ever need to talk, I'm open for it. Losing an employee is one thing, but when he's your dad-" "No." Hamilton interrupted. "He's not my dad anymore." Hamilton finished. "Of course. He gave up that title a while ago." Washington agreed. "Thanks for everything. I mean it." Hamilton said as he left the room.
A/N: I know it was short, but I found the AO3 fic I got this from.
