Also I wrote this on my phone in a cab so that's where any spelling mistakes came from.

Alexander POV:

"Hey Alex, wanna get some lunch?" Thomas Jefferson asked me. I blushed a bit and smiled at him. "Yeah, there's a new diner nearby, wanna check it out?" "Sure. Let me grab my stuff. Damn, this meeting was crazy." He muttered. At least we agree on something. It took time, but I realized that Thomas wasn't all bad, in fact, I kinda got a little crush on him.
"Yeah, what did you think? About the meeting itself, I mean." I asked, packing up my briefcase. "I think that Washington needs to realize that not every issue can be settled with a meeting." Thomas joked. "You think so too? I mean honestly!" I responded, kind of shocking myself with how quick I was willing to insult my favorite person to impress a boy. Guess it wasn't "just a phase".

"Well Hamilton, if you think that, you can sit the next one out." I heard Washington's voice say from the doorway. Goddammit.

"No- I didn't-" "Save it." Washington said coldly. "Alex! Come on!" Thomas called from the hallway. I looked awkwardly at my boss, who shrugged. "Go. He clearly means a lot to you." Washington said, glaring at me before he pushed past me to go to his desk. I just stood there for a minute before slowly walking out to meet Thomas.

The lunch date went... okay, I guess. I did my best to ignore the previous events of today, but it was hard. I hate disappointing Washington.

Before I went to my office, I stopped outside of Washington's office. The door was closed, but somehow, using his presidential superpowers, he knew I was out there in the hallway. "Come in, Hamilton." He called. I took a deep breath, then walked in.

"Listen, I'm really sorry about-" "Hamilton. Have a seat." Washington interrupted. "You know I don't actually think that, right?" I asked after I had sat down. "No, I know." He responded calmly. "Then... then why are you mad?" I asked. "I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed that you think you need to lie to get someone to like you. And that you didn't defend me after everything else you've done to help me." Washington explained. Okay now that makes me look like an asshole.

"I'm sorry. You know how much I look up to you, right?" I hoped he understood and I didn't look dumb. "Alexander, I know that you look up to me as more than a boss, but a father. You think I could really be mad at you for that long?" I wiped away tears I didn't know were there and smiled at him. "If Jefferson makes you happy, that's one thing, but don't lie to make him like you, understand?" He asked. "Yeah. Yeah, thanks." I smiled and shook his hand, but he pulled me into a hug.
