Okay actual story now.

Time: present

Hamilton age: 10

Washington age: 45

Lafayette age: 9

Context: Hamilton is Lafayette's best friend and Washington (Laf's dad) thinks something is wrong.

Also excuse me, I have no idea what boys do at sleepovers so I'm just gonna write it the way us girls do it

Lafayette's pov:

I'm so excited, my best friend Alex is coming over for a sleepover today! My dad and I went out and bought stuff for ice cream sundaes, and we're gonna have pizza today. This is good, because today when I was talking about the plans for tonight, my dad said that Alex was too skinny for whats healthy. But he told me not to repeat that.

I was watching tv when I heard the doorbell ring. I ran to open it and saw Alex, and he looked tired. "Hey- you don't look great." I commented. "Yeah... I walked here. Sorry." "Why the heck would you walk?" He lives across town. "My mom couldn't drive." He shrugged. "Then ask me! I would've asked my dad, and he would've said yes." I shook my head. "Whatever... just come inside." We walked inside together. "So my dad bought Cheetos because it's your favorite, and we cleaned the pool and the trampoline. So we can do whatever." I shrugged. "Trampoline?" He asked. I nodded and we raced each other to the trampoline.

We stayed outside and used my treehouse for a little bit too until my dad came outside. "Boys! Come here for a minute!" I noticed Alex flinch at the yelling, then he almost fell out of the treehouse trying to get out. "Yeah? Mr Washington?" He asked, running over to my dad before I could even get out of the treehouse. "I need your pizza orders, okay? I'm gonna call for delivery." We both nodded and gave our orders.

We stayed outside until our pizza orders came, then we ran inside as soon as we heard the delivery bike pull up. "Dad! Can we watch a movie during dinner? Please?" I begged. "Fine, but no stains on the couch. Got it?" We both nodded and I think I heard Alex whisper "yes sir". I ignored it, but he really has been acting weird.

During dinner, he ate at least five slices. I guess my dad was right about needing to eat. "Alex... slow down." I mumbled, trying to not talk over the movie, which he was completely invested in. "Yeah... sorry." He said quietly, but he didn't stop. Until I heard him coughing. I think he was choking! I hit him on the back until he was okay. "I'm sorry..." He said quietly, to my dad, who had heard him coughing and came in. "Alex, son, it's alright. Just slow down, alright?" He said quietly. Alex nodded and finally put down the pizza.

That night, while we slept, I couldn't shake something out of my mind. The bruises on Alex's back and wrists I saw when he was jumping on the trampoline. He had told me not to tell anyone.

The next morning, we had waffles, and a few hours later, Alex went home. He told me not to tell anyone, but he said he had called himself an Uber. I think I'm getting tired of all these secrets.

I tried to get some sleep during the day, because we hadn't really slept at night, but I kept thinking about those bruises on his stomach. I had to tell someone, mainly because he had told me not to. I know his dad had just gotten joint custody of him, and he's been around a lot more recently. I finally decided to tell my dad about Alex.

I hurried downstairs where he was reading and walked up to him, sitting next to him on the couch. "Hey dad? Can I tell you something?" I asked nervously. He turned around and set down his book. "Sure, what's up son?" He asked. "Well... it's about Alex. And it's a secret. You can't tell people." I said, hoping he'd understand. "Son, I can't promise anything until I know, okay?" Dang. I should've said that to Alex. "Um... So when I was with Alex on the trampoline, his shirt kinda flew up a little bit... and he has a lot of bruises on his back. And his wrists were red. And he told me I'm not allowed to tell anyone about what I saw." I said all in one breath. "Wow... okay. First of all... Lafayette, you're very brave for telling me. Thank you. Okay. Has Alex told you anything else, or done anything that makes you think he's in danger?" He asked. "He ate like five pizza slices. And he went home on an Uber." I admitted. "Shit... Don't tell your mother I said that. Okay... can you call Alex for me?" He asked. I called him. "Can I talk to him?" My dad asked. I handed him my phone and he put it on speaker. "Hey, Alex? It's George, Laf's dad. Are you home already?" "Yeah... why?" "You left your hoodie here, okay? I know it's your favorite, so I'm gonna drive over there and pick you up, and you can come get it, okay?" He asked. "Uh... okay?"

We ran to my dad's car and drove to get Alex, who was already waiting outside. He had a small bruise on his chin that wasn't there last night. He walked to the back seat and sat next to me, looking kind of scared. We drove home in silence. I think my dad had a plan already, so I didn't want to say anything. My dad always knows what to do.

When we got home, Alex was the first person to the front door. "Alex, son, we need to talk to you, okay? Can you have a seat on the couch?" My dad asked. I saw my mom waiting too. He nervously walked over to the couch and sat, waiting for us to talk. My dad took a deep breath. "Alex... we know you're being hurt at home." He said plainly. Alex tensed up. "I'm not-" "Alex. It's okay. You can tell us." Alex stared at the ground. "Listen... Martha and I would love for you to stay here with us. If you'd like that, of course. But we're not letting you stay at home any longer. Okay?" Alex nodded, looking scared now. "I'd like to stay with you... if that's alright, of course." "So we can be brothers?" I asked. "Yep!" My dad said.
