Chapter 18 - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

Then came the loud cheers.

All cars immediately hit the brakes.

All of the racers were still in their respective Honda Civics waiting for the result of who the winner is.

Leni held her breath. Ignoring the person that was beside her until the winner was announced.

"DRAW." Shouted Frederico. He went through some of the footage some of the volunteer staff took while waiting at the finish line area. "Tie with Tim and Racer X!"

Then the cheers became mixed. It felt like the entire audience was rooting for Racer X to win. Some people in the area immediately went closer to where the racers were.

"And since it's a draw, the prize money for tonight is split between you two." Fred spoke as he looked at Leni and Tim who went out of their cars and approached him.

"It was an honor racing with you tonight, Racer X." Tim said as he made a slight bow as respect, "Pwede ba tayo mag-selfie po?"

"WAIT!" Then came a voice from inside Leni car. She went out and immediately approached Leni and grabbed her right arm. "Ako muna."

Risa immediately took out her phone and took a selfie with Leni. The camera app clicked multiple times as she took multiple selfies.

"Isn't that too much?" Leni asked nervously as the multiple takes had similar poses.

"Oks lang naman. At least ako yung una nag-selfie sa champion di ba? Happy!" Risa said happily

"Hoy, tie kami ah." Leni corrected.

"But to me," Risa held both Leni's hands tightly looked at the other woman in the dark helmet, "You are the real winner!"

"Wait, is this Senator Risa?" Tim asked, a little surprised.

"Yes. I was with Racer X this entire time." Risa immediately answered,

"I... I see."

"Don't worry about it." Leni assured the other two competitors, "Senator Risa is in our side."

"Oh that's a relief!" The other racer beside Tim said, "We thought this would be the last time we would have street races here in the Metro. So it's not just Sir Raffy pala."

"Wherever my Racer X goes, I'm there as well." Risa cling to Leni's arm a little tighter, to let them know that she is hers and hers alone. "I just knew about Sir Raffy being part of the races here."

"Ahh yes. He's used to be one of our regular audiences but then became a volunteer security staff." Tim said,

"So ma'am." Fred looked at Risa, "Are you and Racer X are—"

"We're—" Leni said,

"We're exclusively dating. So she's mine and I'm hers."

What the heck?!

"Wait, let me explain." Leni nervously moved her hands around. "You see, kami... I—"

Risa, what the hell?!

"Well, that is interesting. Congratulations on you both then, Ma'am Risa, Racer X." Fred said.

"Fred." A person riding a motorcycle approached the group, "I think you might want to pack up in an hour. The authorities might be roving around soon."

"Sir Raffy." Risa greeted the man,

"Hello there again, Ma'am." Raffy greeted back, "I guess we have a lot to talk about when you head back to the office."

"Oh shoot, you're right!" Risa slapped her forehead, "I have to do a press conference about the Hotel collapse."

"Oh, speaking of the Hotel." Tim interrupted, "Ma'am Racer X, we just have some important info related to Mr. Chua. Unfortunately, this venue isn't the right place to talk about it."

"Can you leave me your number? Let's talk about it in the morning. I'm really tired now." Leni said, "Thank you so much Tim. Your info would be very helpful to us."

"We are actually inspired by what you do, ma'am. We aren't just racers, you know. We want to make a difference as well."

Their conversation was interrupted by people approaching them.

"Racer X, pwede pa picture?"

"Racer X, pa-autograph."

"Pa selfie po, Racer X!"

"Eh, one at a time, okay?" Leni requested at the slowly growing crowd around her.

Risa immediately covered her head with her hoodie so that the crowd wouldn't notice her. She didn't look back so that her face wouldn't be seen.

Each second passed, her heart began to beat faster. She then remembered the warmth of Racer X's hand, and the things they've done while they were at the hospital.

Everything was moving was too fast. But Risa knew in her heart that she has fallen in love with this woman even more.

Outside Hontiveros Residence. 2am.

The Honda Civic slowly stopped in front Risa's home. It was definitely a long and tiring day for both Leni and her. The taller woman unbuckled her seatbelt and checked if she have left anything.

"Congrats, my Racer X." she spoke softly to her driver, "I'll be with you in your next race, okay?"

"Thank you for being there." Leni replied, "But, please. Don't do that kind of stunt ever again, okay."

"Oh yeah, about that. I'm sorry. I just wanted to—"

"I know. I know you want to prove something to me. But you don't need to do that, Ris."

"Do you love me, Racer X?"

Leni paused. She finds it hard to say the right words to her as she was tired from all the things that have been happening recently.

"Risa I—"

"Am I too much for you?"

"No no! You're perfect, Ris."

"Then, do you love me too?"

"Ris..."

"Then it's a no? You don't—"

Risa then stopped halfway of her sentence when Leni held her soft cold cheeks.

"You have work tomorrow. Let's meet up when you're done...okay?"

"Goodnight, Racer X."

"Goodnight, My Ris."

"I...I have a favor to ask."

"What is it?"

"Can you kiss me, please?"

Leni honestly was tired of making excuses. This time, she gave in.

"Close your eyes then." Leni requested,

As the tall woman closed her eyes, Leni quickly pressed the button behind her helmet, then lifted it a bit enough for her lips to be exposed.

She then leaned and kiss Risa. How she wished that moment was long but as she enjoyed that moment, the fear of Risa opening her eyes kind of ruined it a little for her. When they broke the kiss, Leni immediately put back the helmet on and turned on the car engine.

"Good night, Racer X."

"Good night, Miss Violet."

Leni immediately pumped up the gas and left the place. Sadly, she was able to hear the last sentence that Risa said before she left.

"I love you." Risa said those words again as she saw her dear knight drift off away from her sight.
