Chapter 19 - Even Walls Have Ears

The Senate press room was packed with people from the media. The tall woman stood in front of the podium giving her detailed statements to everyone.

The speech was carefully crafted by herself and her team. Making sure all the needed details were mentioned since she was not present.

While the whole common was ongoing, Senator Raffy was at his desk looking at his phone while watching Risa's press conference that was livestreamed.

It was obvious that he is supportive of what Risa and Racer X had built. Which is why he had no doubts about helping them both no matter what their intentions would be.

However, it doesn't hide the fact that he is also worried for them both. When Risa is high on her emotions, she could mention things that might be misunderstood by the masses. Although Racer X has revealed herself as a hero of Metro's dark streets, her identity is still unknown to this day.

"Ma'am." He spoke softly while looking at his phone, "Use your words carefully. Do not let your heart take over your mind."

Risa has finished with her statement. Thankfully, she did not mention anything about Racer X in her speech.

The smooth momentum then turned a little chaotic when the media started to drop in their questions.

"Senator Risa," spoke one media person on the left side, "There are some social media posts that said that you are connected with Racer X."

"Ma'am, can you explain to us Racer X's intention here in the Metro?" Then came another one.

"Ma'am, do you have a comment on people saying na rebelde si Racer X." And another.

She tried to keep her cool. But hearing all the questions that made her Racer X put into a bad light, she had no choice but to drop it.

And she did.

"Racer X is the new hero of the Metro. The light of this hopeless city!" Risa aggressively spoke holding the neck of the small microphone that was in front of her. "Any rumors or hearsay especially being spread by one of my colleagues are nothing but fake news and propaganda to bring her in a bad light."

"Ma'am, no." Raffy softly cursed on his seat while watching the stream.

"For the record." She inhaled before continuing, "Racer X saved my life. I wouldn't be here in front of you if it weren't for her. She deserves all the love and respect."

Random chatter began to echo through the room. Risa immediately pressed the button to turn off the microphone and immediately left the press room heading back to the main session hall to get things and meet with Senator Raffy.

Raffy immediately stood up from his seat when the livestream ended and immediately went to the door to meet up with Risa. The tall woman was obviously pissed and wanted to have a word with someone in that room.

"Ma'am." He blocked Risa's way, "We've talked about this."

"Where is she?!" Risa exclaimed was about to push him to the side so she can walk to her table,

"You know who is on leave for a week." Raffy answered, "Ma'am, her face and her behavior are not worth the time and emotions to deal with."

"She insulted the woman I love, sir." Risa firmly spoke, almost trying to hold herself from crying or bursting with anger.

"I know. I felt that. But Ma'am. Let's not forget that we are still trying to find answers here. We have to help Racer X with whatever she is planning to do."
