Chapter 21 – Her or Her?

CN Network Headquarters.

"We're live in a minute, Pia." Came one of the PA's,

"Sure, sure." Pia groggily replied. She took a look at herself to see if her face was alright before her live breaking news.

Everyone in the newsroom is scrabbling as the news broke out. A major drug dealer in the Metro has been killed.

The suspects? No one can pinpoint. Everything just happened so instantly that no evidence was left.

Just 30 seconds before she goes live, Pinky entered the newsroom to drop in a cup of coffee for the sleepy news anchor.

"Drink it." The taller woman spoke,

"Later." Pia replied as she went through her papers.

"Live in 10." Came the PA's command. Pinky immediately left as the lights went brighter ready for the live report.

The news went live. As the reports come in, the identity of the said person surfaced. Because of this incident, Ed Chua is now on the Metro's watchlist. Every detail of this person's secret business has now been revealed for everyone to see.

As Pia went live to deliver the report, Pinky went reading through the same reports the staff were going through.

"Racer X has done it again." Pinky admitted, "I think we have our own hero in our hands...and I want to make sure CN gets the scoop of this woman."

"Hey." Pinks called in one of the producers who were also on the set, "I want Racer X on my show. I have a lot of questions for her."

"Risa?!" Leni exclaimed as she firmed herself after the bump with Risa,

"Well..." Risa inhaled deeply, avoiding eye contact with the woman in front of her, "This is...a little awkward."

"You shouldn't be here." Leni complained, "It's dangerous. There is a crime scene a couple of blocks away."

"It's none of your business why I am here, Leni." Risa dropped, "Also, why are you even here? Aren't you supposed to be staying up in your office dedicating yourself to serve?" She exaggerated the last word.

"I was...on my way home." Leni directly replied, she couldn't really think of a good excuse.

"Alone?" Risa raised an eyebrow. "You're so brave enough to go alone same as how you didn't care about my feelings."

"Hey, can we just...talk this over somewhere?" Leni stressed, trying to slowly approach Risa. "Let's talk this over in the morning. In my office. Over coffee or something."

"I'm sorry, Leni. But I am afraid that I don't have the time to speak with you no longer."

"And why is that?"

This was the time Risa finally made eye contact with Leni. With firm and fire in her voice, she immediately dropped it, "I'm with Racer X now."

Leni froze. After hearing all this, she was convinced in one thing. Risa fell in love with her other self.

There was something that bothered her when the other woman said that statement. But she couldn't pinpoint properly. She realized that this game of emotional charades isn't a game anymore and Risa has already let go of her heart to the persona that Leni created herself.

But Racer X is me. But Racer X is me.

Risa, that hero is me.

"Are you out of your mind?!" Leni exclaimed, "You fell in love with someone who you never saw their face?!"

"Does it matter?" Risa talked back,

"It does matter!" the shorter woman said louder, "You hardly even know this woman and you are already giving your heart to her? That's stupid."

"It's not stupid if that person gave the kind of love of wanted. Unlike someone like you."

"But I do care, Risa. Always." Leni's voice cracked, "It took me some time to deal with my feelings and I finally realized in how I feel about you. So, Risa I—"

"I love Racer X."

Leni couldn't speak.

"Now if you excuse me." Risa continued, "I have to go to that area. Racer X is waiting for me."

Leni grabbed Risa's hand by force. "I want you to stop what you're doing!"

"Let go of me, Leni! She is waiting for me."

"Racer X is not who you think she is! Stop with this fantasy of yours."

The fight of words continue as Leni kept blocking Risa's way, stopping her from going forward to where the incident was.

"You don't even know her. She cared for me! She gave me everything that I wanted and more. I want to be with her now!"

"Risa, I—"

"Let go! I need to see my Racer X now!"

As Risa finally got out of Leni's grip, she instantly stopped as a van blocked her way. Then came Sherwin and Tin holding on to her and press a pen-like device on her neck. The senator fainted and the couple carefully held her to avoiding her from dropping.

"Thank you, Sherwin, Tin." Leni sighed, "I'm sorry I had to do this, Risa."

"We couldn't bear listening to your argument, Ma'am" Sherwin confessed, "We know hearing all that was too much."

Then came a motorcycle approaching them. George immediately went to the scene where his two mothers were.

"Mommy is here?" George asked Leni,

"I'm sorry, son." Leni apologized patting his shoulder, "This was the best thing we can do for now. We can't tell her all this until our main mission is over."

"I miss those days when you both still talked." George admitted, "I guess it might not happen anytime soon."

"Atty." Tin called, handing out the helmet and leather jacket to Leni, "She might wake up at any moment now."

Leni suited up to her other persona. Then carried Risa in her arms. The other team members left a scene, leaving them both alone.

Risa then moved her head and woke up to the sight of her helmet-wearing hero carrying her.

"Happy!" she squealed and gave the other woman the usual neck kiss.

"Are you alright?" Leni asked, "You fainted all of a sudden."

"I really don't know what happened." Risa replied as she slowly stood up. "I remembered arguing with Leni then I fainted."

"Well," Leni sighed, "She's gone. I told her that I'll take over and she shouldn't bother you anymore."

"Where have you been? I am so worried."

Leni then hugged Risa, assuring her that everything is alright. "I am fine. I am slowly taking down all the major criminals of this city one by one."

Rain began to pour to where they were. Leni quickly took her jacket off to give to Risa. They both looked at the sky as the raindrops continued to cover the city.

"For the Dragon Lady." Leni proudly spoke as continued to look at the sky, wishing that heaven continued to watch over her and the person she loved the most.
