"Great job," he told me. "Just a couple more levels, and we'll attempt going to the floating castle."

I checked my level. After about three months of nonstop torture, I've reached level 78.

"What's the date today?" I asked. "We've been here for a while, so I'd like to see the date."

Kokichi opened up the menu.
"It's March 26th."

     Kaede's birthday?

"Damn it.." I laid down on the grass, and Kokichi sat next to me. I sighed.

"What's up? Today a special day or something?" he asked.

"Today's Kaede's birthday, and I'm not here with her.." I put my hand over my face.

Kokichi stayed silent for a second and puffed his cheeks. "Sit up and open your inventory."

I looked at him, confused, but did it anyway. He pressed the pink flower, shoved it into my hands, and held onto them.

"Have hope, Shuichi," he told me. As he held onto my hands, I felt the warmth. It was comforting. "You'll find your Katie, I'll make sure you do."

"Kaede.." I sighed. Kokichi took his hands off and stood up.

"We should head back to our room," he said. "Come on. I'm not a huge fan of this sappy stuff."

I rolled my eyes and stood up. He's so annoying. As he was walking, I held the flower in my hands. I tightened my grip and then put it back into my inventory.

Kaede, no matter what, we will meet again. I promise.

     As we opened the door to our room, Kokichi opened up his inventory.

"Heyy, lookie here!" He took out a piece of.. Ew, what is that??

"What the hell is that?" I asked in disgust. He was holding a lump of- I can't even describe it. It looked like shit.

"It's the bread I sto- I mean, bought two months ago!" he grinned. "Want some?"

"No way."

"Whatever. Maybe it'll make a good gift for Miu." He put it back into his inventory and then collapsed onto his bed. "Hey Shuichi."

"Yes?"

"Do you think we would've been friends if we met in the real world first?"

"No way." He laughed.

"Right? Like, I wouldn't even talk to you. I bet you were such a loner when you were at school."

I rolled my eyes and sat down onto my bed. I guess we would be considered friends by now.. Kind of unexpected.

"I'm gonna take a nap. Don't bother me," I said.

"Okey dokey," he said. I shut my eyes and fell fast asleep.
