"some things leave me confused
but especially you"---

Soon it was a full week into summer and I had to go out and grocery shop for my parents.
I pushed my shopping cart down the aisles in a hurry, hoping to get in and out of the store quickly.
I turned a corner and immediately bumped into a person.
"I'm so sorry." I apologized before I saw the brunette boy standing in front of me. "Oh, Wes, hey."
"Hey." He made a dumb face. "Funny seeing you here."
"Hilarious." I agreed sarcastically, grabbing a loaf of bread off the shelf beside us. "What brings you here, Wesley?"
"Grocery shopping for my mom." He lifted a small piece of paper that was clutched tightly in his right hand. "She's working late tonight, so it's my job."
"Hey, me too!" I lifted my own shopping list I got from my own mother. "My parents are having friends over for dinner tonight, so I need to do the shopping and cleaning while they're out. It's gonna be boring."
"I mean, I have nothing to do today." He shrugged. "I could help you out."
"Really?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah, why not?"
I thought it over for a moment. "Sure. Yeah, okay."
I held my hand up and Wes high-fived me.
"Well, I'm almost done here. Meet me at my house when you're done?" I asked and he smiled.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah, sounds good."
"Cool." I nodded, smiling in appreciation. "Thank you so much, Wes. Really."
"It's no problem." He shrugged.
"No, I'm serious. Thank you, I love you so much, you're my new best friend. Who needs Tara?" I pointed at him as I slowly walked away with my shopping cart.
He chuckled at my words and shook his head, pink lightly dusting his cheeks.
"See you soon, Wes."

Once I had put all of the groceries away, I started cleaning my room, because while my parents' friends came over, I was allowed to have one friend stay if I helped clean properly.
I paused the music playing from my speaker when the doorbell rang.
Wesley.
"Wes!" I grinned after opening the door and he looked up from his shoes and smiled, awkwardly as usual. "My hero."
"I mean, I wouldn't say hero." He laughed lightly and I scoffed.
"You're literally saving me right now." I gestured for him to enter the house, and he did.
"Honestly, I'm just bored."
"Well, I can give you many things to do." I sighed. "Because I have so much shit to do today."
"Like?" He asked as we stepped into the kitchen.
"Dishes, washing clothes, scrubbing the counter, sweeping and mopping the floor, scrubbing the dinner table, vacuuming in the living room and the downstairs hallway, cleaning my room, cleaning the toilet--"
