"get my car door, isn't that sweet?
then pull me to the back seat
no one's ever had me, not like you"

"A party?" I repeated Tara's words as I drove her home from work and she nodded. "We're going to a party?"

"Come on, Y/N. It's summer break." Tara made a pleading face. It had been summer break for a month. "It'll be fun."

"Who else is going?" I asked her.

"Amber, Mindy, Chad and Wes." She told me. "A girl I work with is hosting it."

"Wes is going? Does his mom know?"

"Yeah, but he has to leave early and he's not allowed to drink."

"I don't know if the son of the Sheriff would even be able to get away with underage drinking." I said and Tara chuckled.

"He's a momma's boy." Tara said.

"Hey, that's not fair." I frowned. "He loves his mom. It's cute."

"Sure. Are you gonna come to the party?" Tara asked.

"Yeah, whatever."

---

"Alright, have fun." My mom said as she dropped me and Wes off at the party a few nights later. "Call me if anything happens."

"Of course." I smiled at my mom and she drove away.

Wes grabbed my hand and we headed into the house where the party was being held.

"I already want to leave." Wes practically yelled into my ear so I could hear him over the loud music and the other sounds that filled the building. "Can we go?"

"Give it an hour." I responded and we headed further into the party, looking for our friends.

"There's Chad!" Wes pointed across the party to where Chad was talking to a girl with pink hair.

"And he's talking to that girl Tara works with." I couldn't quite remember her name.

"Yep." Tara suddenly appeared next to us, making both Wes and I jump. "That's Liv. They're probably gonna hook up."

"Really?"

"Yeah, unless that creep we work with turns up." Tara made a face. "Anyway, I'm gonna go find Amber."

"Alright." I put on a smile and once she walked away I sighed. Wes raised his eyebrows. "What?"

"What's with the sigh?" He asked as we headed towards the kitchen.

"Amber." I told him. "Tara barely hangs out with me anymore because of Amber."

"Yeah, but you've got me now." Wes smiled and put an arm around my shoulders. "And I'm not going anywhere."

I chuckled and kissed his cheek before reaching for the full bottle of Pepsi on the kitchen counter.

"Do you want some?" I asked. "Since you're not drinking."
