"i'm taking pictures in my mind so i can save them for a rainy day
it's hard to make a conversation when he's taking my breath away"

I shivered in the cold rain as I walked home from school.

Winter was coming to an end, but that didn't mean the shitty weather was.

The rain had come out of nowhere after a day of mostly sun.

I had my headphones in as I walked and pulled the hood of my jacket over my head in an attempt to protect myself from the rain.

Then my phone started to ring.

Wes <33

I accepted the call and slipped my phone back into my pocket so I could talk through the microphone in my headphones.

"Hey." Wes greeted and I smiled.

"Hey. What's up?" I asked, rather loudly so my voice could be heard above the rain.

"Are you outside right now?" Wes questioned me. "In the rain?"

"Yeah, I'm walking home."

"Jesus, that's how you get sick, Y/N." Wes told me. "I mean, if you're out in the cold for too long you could get hypothermia or something worse."

"I'll be fine, Wes."

"No, I'm gonna come pick you up. Where are you?"

I sighed and looked up at the nearest street sign, telling my boyfriend the name.

"I'll be there in five minutes." Wes told me before ending the call.

And he got there in four minutes and ten seconds.

The car stopped beside me and he leaned over to open the passenger door.

"Hey, stranger." He said with a smile as I sat down beside him, soaking wet, which Wes clearly noted because the next thing he said was, "You can shower at my house if you want."

"Thank you, Wes." I pressed a kiss to his cheek. "My hero."

"That's me." He grinned before driving back towards his house.

When he pulled into the driveway we sat in the car for a second.

"Okay. Three... Two..." Wes counted slowly.

"One." I finished and jumped out of the car, running up the porch steps and to the front door.

"Hey!" Wes was quick to follow, but I beat him there.

"I win." I said with a smile and Wes shook his head.

"You cheated." He stated.

"No, I didn't. I ran after one." I pointed out and Wes started unlocking the front door.

The same front door that would be covered in his blood in just 6 months.

"I wasn't ready, that's not fair." Wes opened the door and we walked in together. "Anyway, if you wanna go up to my bathroom I'll get you a change of clothes."

When I was showering, there was a knock at the bathroom door.

"Hey, I've just got the clothes for you." Wes' voice spoke from the other side and I stuck my head out of the shower.

"You can come in here, Wes. You know that, right?" I told him and after a moment of silence, the bathroom door opened.

Wes didn't look at the shower, just at the ground as he lifted up the clothes and sat them on the toilet lid.

"Um, the towels are just in there." He pointed at the cupboard underneath the bathroom sink before turning around. "I'm gonna go."

"Can you get me one of the towels first?" I asked as I turned off the shower.

He cleared his throat. "Yeah, yeah, of course."

As he did so, he avoided even looking in my direction slightly. Then once he had grabbed a towel, he held it up to me and kept his head turned. I could see in the mirror that his eyes were closed too.

"Wes, you don't need to close your eyes if you don't want to." I told him with a chuckle as I took the towel. "I don't mind."

"I didn't want to seem like a creep." He stated, turning his head as I wrapped the towel around my body.

"You're my boyfriend, Wes. I don't care if you look at me." I told him before kissing him on the lips.

His eyes drifted around my body before he coughed awkwardly. "Alright, I'm gonna leave you to change."

"Okay, I'll see you in a minute." I chuckled and continued to dry myself off before getting changed.

From here there's 6 months until the day I tried calling Wes while he was showering in the very bathroom. At this point in time, however, February 2021, Sam Carpenter was meeting Richie Kirsch for the first time.

Once I had changed into the clothes Wes left for me, some of his own, I walked out into his bedroom, but he wasn't there.

"Wes?" I called out before walking out of his room and going downstairs.

"Did you call me?" He appeared at the bottom of the stairs as I came down.

"Yeah, I was wondering where you went." I told him and he grabbed my hand. The rain was still pouring outside pretty heavily.

"I was setting up a movie." He gestured to the tv and then walked over to the microwave. "And making popcorn."

"Oh. You're making popcorn?" I looked to the microwave where the bag of popcorn had grown largely and had stopped popping. "It looks like it's done."

"But the microwave has a whole minute left."

"If you leave it in for too long it'll burn!" I exclaimed, stopping the microwave and carefully pulling the bag out. "Can you get a bowl?"

"Yep." Wes turned and started digging through the cupboards before pulling out a large bowl.

I poured the popcorn into the bowl and we took it to the living room where the tv was sitting on the Netflix menu of the movie What We Do In The Shadows.

"Is this what we're watching?" I asked, sitting down.

"It's such a funny movie, Y/N, you'll love it." Wes stated. "Trust me."

"Okay, I guess so." I sighed with a sarcastic joking tone. Of course I trusted him. I always did.
