"Wowww...." She murmured so low I barely heard it.
She didn't say anything else for several minutes and nervous about what she thought, since her face wasn't giving any hints, I began to babble.
"So do you like it? I mean if you don't we can leave. I just thought you would like it...anyway I just wanted to show you where I always headed off to if you couldn't reach me...please say something I'm going just slightly crazy over hear," I said chuckling nervously.
"No, Matt..." she said sounding still slightly stunned.
My heart sank slightly thinking that she didn't like it and feeling slightly dejected my hold on her loosened. She gripped hold of arms keeping them in place around her stomach and objected in a louder voice.
"No Matt that's not what I meant at all I'm just...speechless. This is so...breathtakingly beautiful and I guess I'm in shock as well as I've known you for so long yet...I don't even know that this place even existed," she trailed off sadly making me want to reassure her.
I withdrew my arms and crouched down in her front of her instead, grabbing hold of her hands and looking into her eyes.
"Kitty, you're the very first person I've told about this place. I never told you before because I'm well...I'm embarrassed to say that sometimes I need a place where I could go where no one could see how crazy I was when I was too angry or upset. I didn't need to explain anything to anyone here, I could just be by myself in this sanctuary."
"But still Matt, you didn't tell me, that's almost as bad as lying and we always promised each other we wouldn't lie."
"I just didn't want you to see me like that, Kitty please believe me; I never meant to hurt you," I said trailing off at the end, the emotion raw in my voice.
"Matt, I know you wouldn't hurt me intentionally, of course I know that," she said pulling on my chin so I was facing her again and not the stain on my shoe. "Matt? Why are you showing me now?" she asked with that cute puzzled look on her face which I loved so much.
Avoiding the question, my hand with a mind of its own caressed her cheek after wiping out the lines on her forehead.
"You're going to get early wrinkles if you don't stop frowning so much, so stop stressing...and before you interrupt," I said as I watched her mouth open. "Your puzzled face is nothing compared to how much I would do to see a smile stretch across your face because Kitty...um...I think we should go for a swim: it should be nice and warm..." I finished with a slight sigh, having failed to finish my sentence correctly since I had lost my nerve to say 'because I love you so much'.
She grinned, seemingly having forgiven me and immediately stripped of her top as if in a rush to get wet. Oh shit not good idea: half-naked and wet. Why do I do this to myself? I had always had split opinions when it came to swimming with Kitty since on the plus side I got to hold her close as no matter how much I tried to teach her she was never a very confident swimmer but on the other she was both wet and near naked so by the end of it I always had blue balls. I turned around when she began to drop her shorts so that I could compose my expression and rearrange myself so I could survive; before stripping myself.
Turning around, I carefully kept my eyes up so that my words wouldn't get jumbled but I didn't succeed as she had got a lot closer than before.
"Um...would you like to eat first...to sate the wild beast that is your stomach," I joked, laughing as she attempted to cause harm by hitting my shoulder.
Her head tilted from side to side until it stopped as she came to a decision.
"Hmm, that does sound good but how, there isn't any food here? We can have it later if we have to leave here."
