I smiled at the lights continued to get closer and closer until all I could see was the brightness. I never thought that I would smile when my time came; I definitely didn't think I would be thankful but I was. An indistinct figure appeared in the lights and I wondered who would be greeting me: if it was someone I'd known or just a complete stranger. The figure moved hurriedly forwards though I could not here his footsteps against the ground. Reaching out with my heavy arm it was a shock when I met solid flesh denting my angel theory. His gaze scanned my body, seemingly examining me though I couldn't fathom why he would do so if I was dead, it's not like I could get any worse. When his hands moved to my neck and I flinched away from the pain I gasped and wondered how I still felt it, dead that I was.

His face moved even closer but I couldn't hear him despite seeing his mouth move. After waiting for a response that never came, I was lifted up into his arms and my head spun as he quickly turned around. We moved towards the lights, the intensity growing with each step he took until suddenly the light dimmed dramatically as he moved past the source of the light. The harsh cold metal as he sat me down snapped my mind awake to the fact that maybe I wasn't dead after all. I groaned as the pain seemed to slam back in. Eyes cast downwards I caught sight of lettering on the side of the vehicle and upon closer inspection deciphered 'Police'. I re-read the letters again and again, not believing my luck. Relief flooded my system that I even almost started crying. It was finally over. I was safe.

"Shush it's alright, you're safe now. My name is Bob, I'm with the police. You're safe and I'm taking you back," the officer told me as he guided me to sit down on the seat. "I'm just gonna check the cut on your neck okay?" After receiving a brief nod that was really not a good idea since it made my vision blur, he disappeared briefly to the rear of the car.

As I heard the boot click open I couldn't stop myself from searching the trees just waiting for them to come for me. I couldn't breathe properly as I began to hyperventilate at the thought and got unsteadily to my feet using the door as support.

"I have to go, they'll find me. I have to go," I muttered flinching at every broken twig.

He came rushing back around and reached out for me only to raise his hands when I recoiled: already damaged from the time with him.

"I'm not going to hurt you; I'm just trying to help." I tried to believe him, I really did, after all if you couldn't trust the police then who could you trust but a warning within me said it wasn't safe.

"I'm sorry I just can't...can't...I need to go...I don't want them to find me," I stuttered out as my eyes continued to rove the dark world surrounding me.

"Don't worry, you're safe with me. I won't let them get you out here."

If I had been thinking clearly I would have read more into his words and how he knew who they were, but I didn't. I shouldn't have let him clean my neck that had stopped bleeding and shouldn't have willingly got in the car trusting in the man just because he belonged to a group that was meant to protect people. I drifted in and out, adrenaline disappearing from my system coupled with the drowsy pain killers he had given me which made my eyes droop no matter how hard I tried to keep them open. I only realised that I shouldn't have done all those things too late as the crunching of gravel jerked me awake as he pulled the car into the driveway of the place I had come to associate as hell. Worst of all he was there waiting for me, angrier than I had ever seen him.

"No, what are you doing? Not here, not him please!" Screaming at the man beside me that didn't even look remorseful as he pulled up.

When it was obvious he wasn't going to help me in the slightest I ripped the door open and tried my hardest to get away once more but my advantage was gone this time and I had no hope. Hope that was soon dashed when only a couple of seconds went by before I was grabbed roughly around the middle before being lifted up into familiar arms. Screaming didn't help as tears flooded down my face leaving a trail on the ground as he walked me towards the house kicking and screaming uselessly as his grip never slackened. His grip dug into my skin purposefully causing me pain but it was his anger filled silence that had me petrified.
